I had a fridge magnet of a SAR Seaking I picked up while on holiday in Weymouth.
The missus was making pastry one morning. Slammed the fridge door causing the Helo to fall
onto the work surface. Straight into some flour and straight into a whiteout condition.
Fortunately the magnet survived the ordeal.

Once Just Jane is airworthy potentially we could see four Lancasters on the ground at Duxford!
    Providing the Canadians can visit?

Just goes to show what a single laser guided bomb could have achieved where all those other bombs failed to.
That building is still relatively intact.

633 Squadron Mosquito crash landed during filming.
Blackburn Buccaneer that stood over the Planets bar in Woking.
Harrier that adorned the wall in the Trocadero Leicester Square (not sure about that one. Possibly saved?)

As a devout Atheist I have one problem with religion.
I still think we should have religion in a modern society.
    Why?
Would you deny the right of a dying person, a Soldier on the battlefield. Child in hospital. Relative. The right to look for comfort in religion when they face death?
I don’t care what your belief death is quite a strong motivator.

Very interesting, thanks for the replies.
    What was the bailout drill? I would imagine;
    1. Rotate turret port or starboard (hoping there is still power)
    2. Climb out backwards and flip over the side (still hoping nothing is snagged on the guns)
3, Deploy chute and hope for the best!

The reason I believe we do not have the right to kill someone is because it is inhumane.
While their actions may be inhumane I do not see why killing the perpetrator makes the sentence just and not just revenge.
I also don’t understand why the family of the victim would want the perpetrator killed for any other reason than revenge.
How can it be just to kill those that have killed?

I’ll throw the question back at you. Why do you think the death penalty is anything other than revenge?

The works are selling a dvd set called `Close Escapes` @ £4.99 which has a rather nice hour long documentary about the Amiens raid twinned with (another hour long) the Doolittle Raiders.
You also get two other discs. Quite a well narrated and interesting set.
While there check out the 5 disc set called `British Bombers`.

No. We do not have the right to take someones life regardless of what they have done (with the possible exception of mass genocide but that’s a different court).
The death penalty sounds to me like revenge rather than punishment.
I would like to see more realistic sentences. 300 years without parole.

As to 37’000 to house an inmate. That sounds like typical bureaucratic waste.

    Dear all,
I had promised to post a better photograph.
Below is attached a slightly better one which may assist with identification.
I am sure that those are pilots wings and not an observers brevet.
The painting is signed ‘Parker. Oslo 1946.’
Hopefully someone may recognise the subject.
    Cheers

Could the wings be a Polish Eagle?
It doesn’t look right for an Observer or Pilots wings.

It is possible for the pilot to fire the seat accidentally. It happened to a Harrier Display Pilot in the 80’s. Seat was fired on the ground and pilot unfortunately killed.
Was the Hawk seat meant to deploy a chute, was it a Zero Zero ejection seat?

Vulcan after bombing the Falklands, “good morning”.

That there is a line of trees at Biggin Hill that have plaques to BoB pilots who fought in the war. Something my Dad used to tell me in the 70’s
every year when we went to the display. Wonder if there is any truth to the story?

Was that the wooden hanger/shed with the RE8 inside with tools, lights, etc.
    Very good it was.
    We all loved it.

Funny but I thought I was the only one who liked that display.
Very atmospheric. What was the record playing?. `Midnight in Piccardy` or something like that.

I’m not disputing that the earth is old, but find it amusing when scientists predict with certainty that something is millions or billions of years old. Both scientists and creationists are off their chumps to some degree. My monies still on the scientists.
