If they are targeted on to military and weapons installations, none but military personnel.
No.
You have good faith in intelligence and accuracy.
Bombs go wrong. Just read Apache Dawn to see a missile fired from a British Helicopter turning 180 and heading towards allied lines.
Targets are miss identified. Seem to recall a lot of Iraqi civilians being killed when their shelter was targeted as a military installation.
Then there is the civilian who just happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Civilians will be killed. A good way to nurture the next generation of terrorists.
Lets stop this fanciful idea modern war is clean, sterile and civilized.
Spitfire over Southend Seafront 3pm.
Anyone know which one it was and where it was going?
Why are chemical weapons looked at as worse than conventional? They have been killing civilians conventionally for years and no one has particularly reacted.
To answer the question should we go in. Yes, we have to go in otherwise what we stand for is for nothing. Will it change the outcome for the better. No, it won’t.
Anyway what about the Arabs? It’s their problem too. Why doesn’t Saudi do something?

I can see it now.
RAF jets in action over Syria. RAF jet downed by Russian made AA missile.
Beaten faces of the crew shown on TV. Ground forces forced to try rescue. Ground forces take casualties.
General ground force invasion meets heavy resistance.
Civilian casualties mount. The west is criticized. We arm the `Rebels`, rebels turn against the west. Violence escalates.
Military casualties increase. Bodies of UK soldiers flown home.
Refugee problem in Europe. UK agrees to take 200’000.
Cameron looses the political battle. Cost of war criticized in Parliament.
Sounds familiar somehow.
Us getting involved makes the assumption that `us` are actually wanted by the local populace and the Rebels have the local populace at heart.
It won’t be the first time the locals have turned against the common enemy. Just look at Somalia.

They didn’t mention the Zep that bombed Cleopatra’s Needle on the embankment (damage still visible) or the one that bombed Vauxhall. Both these sites have plaques commemorating the events.
Presumably shrapnel is still inside the bronze statues at the base of the needle?

I’d wait until it’s confirmed what Do17Z it actually is first.
Oh, okay. I was under the impression they already knew. I guess that’s just speculation then?
A very good insight into its release from its watery home of the past 73 years. It showed how well it had been planed and how well they had to bring it up on the hoof once the well planed bit had to be binned.
again a well done to all.
I would like to build a model of the Dornier and the Defiant that brought it down.
Does anyone know what colour scheme, markings these two aircraft wore?
Are there any surviving photo’s?
Interesting day on the way to Ikea.
13:30 two Shorts Tucano’s, one in black, one in WW2 Dessert Camo near Southampton.
17:00 BBMF Lancaster with one fighter in trail circling near Basingstoke.
Not a surprise really, it has been almost 70 years after all. But what hasn’t been mentioned is the amount of looting of the wrecks by tourists and locals.
While I appreciate the significance of these ships as war graves, to be honest looting parts at least saves them. Eventually all that will be left is a red stain on the sea bed.
I always find it amusing when I look at a London Underground map and it says at the bottom “not to scale”.
Well, you would have a hard job sticking it to the wall if it was!
