Both the big ‘boats were planned to come into the new hangar. However the plan is now to build a large open-ended ‘tent’ off the hangar, which will enable work to continue more easily on the Sunderland (Solent mainly just needs the painting finished, she was inside until 2010).

When the hangar was spec’ed and costed, they weren’t expecting a Skyhawk, Strikemaster, and ‘Macchi (and maybe Huey or Sioux?).
If it makes the Europeans feel any better, I missed the repro Snipe when it was in NZ, and they are now (slightly) closer to it than I am 🙂
Excellent! I wonder if I will see TVAL’s (ex-Kermit Week’s) next Easter.
If you want a reminder of how dirty real aircraft get, check out the second-to-last photo in this post – the latest Fokker D.VIII repro from TVAL after her first display (today).

The plan is for it to be certified in New Zealand before going on display at a special show planned at Ardmore, ahead of its delivery to the US. It will then have to be recertified in the US before it can fly in a show there.
Warren expects plenty of interest from the public when it appears at Ardmore.
“It will be a unique opportunity for people to see the plane. We’re expecting that to happen in the third quarter this year.”

The Anson in NZ shouldn’t be far off – was expected at shows this month, but no first flight so far.

And that relatively complete project used significant new-build elements sourced from somewhere apparently unacceptable to some.
