US firm offers sophisticated radar to India
    By PTI
    Published: July 31, 2006

US armaments major Raytheon has said it is ready to supply to India the advanced active electronically scanned array radar, which has not been offered to Pakistan, for use with the F-16 and F-18 fighter jets. The F-16 and F-18 are being considered for an Indian Air Force contract to purchase 126 multi-role combat aircraft, and the AESA radar will significantly boost the war-fighting capabilities of both the jets, Raytheon officials said. Significantly, Raytheon said it is also willing to “work to secure US government approval” for exporting sensitive technologies like the AESA radar to India. It pointed out that the US government has not offered either the F-18 or the AESA system to Pakistan. Torkel Patterson, president of Raytheon International, told PTI, “Raytheon is looking at a long-term partnership approach in India, rather than a buyer-seller relationship. This approach will be based on establishing partnerships with Indian companies for technology transfer for localised production of certain components.” Once the Indo-US nuclear deal is finalised, it would “herald a new era in bilateral relations, especially in defence”, Patterson said. The AESA system, which steers radar beams at nearly the speed of light and is lighter and more accurate than conventional radars, is fitted on the US Navy’s F-18 jets. Raytheon officials said it could also be fitted on the F-16 if the jet is chosen by India for the Air Force contract. Raytheon has also offered other potent systems like the air-to-air AMRAAM missiles and ATFLIR infra-red targeting pod for use with the F-16 and and F-18, company officials said.

Well throughout history Pakistan has been a vital ally to the Americans and the West; Pakistan took in most of the Afghan refugees, and had to absorb all of the problems they brought. At the same time Pakistan has done its share in the War on Terror – but what level of aid did Pakistan get for its troubles? I do not recal Egypt sending in 80K troops on a hostile border – but they got more aid from the U.S than Pakistan did,

So tell me, Pakistan has just gone through a massive unpreventable earthquake, it is surrounded by terrorists/militants on its West and an archrival looking to disable it on its East. All it asks is for some compensation for its troubles – and bang we have Western folks who probably never thought of anyone else attacking Pakistan.

Becuase almost every militant activity that takes place around the world has Pakistani Links directly or indirectly. No other country is involved in terrorism as much a pakistan is. That is why!

It was afganistan first, then Iraq, it will be Iran next then N.Korea and finally Pakistan which is gonna face the Heat if it continues the way its going.

    Do i prefer 5 mki’s to 1 f22A? Not really.

India has plans for 5th Generation fighters, they will get them when they need them. India do not intend to fight US nor does the US want to fight India. So we do not need expensive F-22’s, MKI’s can do a great job fending off other fourth generation fighters in its borders, thats what we need. Thats our requirement.

cmon just think how many aircrafts in the world can face MKI and live to tell the tale?????? atleast around its borders.

How good is Mirage 2000-5 against pak version of F-16? why not try Mirage 2000-5 or a Gripen. cause pak has got Agosta subs from french!! Isnt that a point to ponder?

The only way to judge is through air combat record. Pakistanis have a very good record in air combat. They have always enjoyed a higher kill ratio than whatever adversary they’ve faced.

and always end up loosing.. LOL! 😀 😀 😀
