    Harrier demise

It’s not impossible that the RAF were only too keen to get rid of the harrier. They are very keen to take control of all fast jets, so hate anything that ought to be on a carrier. The RAF made sense in 1939 when the UK was threatend by a local neighbour. Since then it has achieved little. Jets on carriers able to deploy anywhere is what is needed. That way you can get to where you need to be without needing permission. Defence cuts would be most effective if they took out the RAF who really have been prety grotty ever since they did the proverbial to Dowding. Their contribution in the Falklands was negative and totally useless, not to mention expensive. They are a waste of money today and are absolutely responsible for the demise of the harrier as a deliberate self serving act. That’s my view anyway – pity as I grew up marvelling at their exploits in the BoB.

But happy to let you have a closer look at G-MOOS if you’re down at Yeovilton any time soon, and I might ask you to become a member of the Fly Navy Heritage Trust supportes club……
