As a follow up on this – I called FRs internet support line -£1 a minute- and they fixed the name on the booking and sent me a new confirmation email, no charge. All was sorted in about 20 seconds, no holding, polite person on the phone no questions asked when they could have been difficult. Fantastic customer service and goes to show that there are some good Ryanair customer experiences out there!

I wouldnt care if it was was EZY or BA, you’e right I wouldn’t worry. Just got nightmare visions. Still, two days before the flights are £49.99, I may take my chances,

Ta guys. My worry is that they will say the person on the ticket is not the same as the name on the passport and make my buy a new ticket – although I have flown with my mate Ben – his name Ben on the ticket but Benjamin on the passport.

If it saves jobs at BAe it may well be money well spent, although it may not at the moment be obvious where the jobs will go. In addition, there is nothing new about governments paying certain industries favours to give them the competitive advantage – there is a list as long as a piece of string of examples. It happens, and journos can paint it any way they want – that is their priviledge.

I flew on this service Monday eve, MAN LGW. There was only 36 on the flight. Can’t understand why, its cheaper than the train! Perhaps needs more promotion?

It would have to be – after the tax is wacked on top it is difficult to see why anyone would bother compared to train and car.

Have to agree, I didn’t think it was that much worse than most you see at LHR/LGW at this time of year

Slightly related (not really) – saw the Hertz 732 operating out of LGW today, so it is still flying as I vaguely recall there was some dispute on the board?

Ah thats bad if the service has been downgraded. Haven’t used them for a few months, used BA out of LGW to AMS recently and that was OK I suppose, but I always used to try and arrange my meetings/visits so I could go out on the 767 out of T4 in the morning, and would rate the service very above average, but if its been downgraded maybe I’ll stick with BA.
