Quite right. I wasn’t trying to say that the crew were in the clear.
I know mate, I could see an incident coming with this company unless they made some big changes in their operation.
[QUOTE=wysiwyg]ATR’s are notorious for problematic airframe icing. QUOTE]
Therefore, they should have been twice as switched on in icing conditions to prevent this problem. I am not suprised though.
Cathay Pacific still has the hot towels….great.
Christ, If I lived back in the UK I would have two!!!!
I don’t think they will go down the 747-400 route. There is a shortage of second hand B747-400.
Sounds like a bit of bartering to get a rock bottom price for some new machines.
nice shots mate.
What about the pilots. Are they pilots from CX or Boeing’s ?
CX crew.
Why, when it comes to Ryanair…..I am never surprised…….This airline should be grounded.
Cathay Pacific will have a B747-400 at Farnborough this weekend. It will be doing a couple of flybys , one at 350kts.
For example, during the SARS crisis Virgin were able to operate the A346 to HKG with much more freight than a 744 can carry which in itself was enough to make the route profitable. Any passengers carried were purely a bonus. This would not have been the case with a 744. This was one of the many reasons why I was so keen to get on the bus.
Ian,
some of our many reasons for the B744 was Days off, excellent destinations, lifestyle, golf courses down route to name but a few………not cargo capacity…..HEEEEEEEEE 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 only kidding mate.
Cathay Pacific are interested, but Boeing said “we will build it for you if you stump up the money for the new aircraft”.
It doesn’t quite work like that.
great look back in time, thanks
why would CX want to get rid of there A346s already? Not satisfied with its performance?
I am afraid Cathay have not been happy with the A340-600 for a number of reasons. Reliability and performance are just a couple.
brings back happy thoughts….ohhhh, the old Lutons. I logged over 400 hours in JG and EA
hurry back Kev.
