    Hi Keith

    MM62130 be the one.

Full list of ‘show participants for that RIAT at http://www.scramble.nl/mil/show/showreports/fairfo93.htm if you’re missing anything else.

This was the ‘show where the 208 Sqn Bucc did this 😀

Is there still a NKC-135 in service as a Zero-G bird? Didn’t know that. But the Il-76 variant (actually the Il-76MDK, two of which are based at Chkalovsky) is definately correct.

    One more

Isn’t it an Airbus A300B(2/4/something or other) that was based at Bordeaux-Merignac?

I believe it was hired, at great expense, by the porn conglomerate “Private” and they shot a hard-core flick inside it several years back.

Trust Arthur to include such sordid aircraft in his quiz! 😀

IIRC it was also pre-dated by a Caravelle II/III that’s still preserved at Merignac with the CAEA.

Prove that one, show me a link or a picture.

Not difficult, Sean: the very (in)famous AC-130 footage that goes on for around 10 minutes where you can clearly hear whoops and “yeahhh!” in the background. Perfectly understandable in some ways (remoteness from the casualties and the arcade-game images via FLIR), so why pretend it’s not true?

Would you imagine the footage from the AC-130 that shot-up a wedding party (or was it two?) would be any different?

There was a very interesting TV documentary shown here earlier this week concerning Marshall’s studies in 1947 about the inability of troops to “shoot to kill” during WWII. I was amazed that only 25% of front-line infantry soldiers actually shot at the enemy (ie in their direction) and only 2% shot to kill: of those 1% were described as “sociopaths” who enjoyed the experience and the other 1% as what most would recognise as heroic in that they killed against their nature to save lives of their own men etc.

This figure was also borne-out by the fact that 1% of all pilots accounted for all of the A2A kills in WWII as well.

One of the strongest points made was that it is incredibly difficult to kill another human being at arms’ reach but not so at distance.

Part two is being screened next week and is due to cover the training and doctrine over recent years which has attempted to bring that total of 2% up to something like 75%.

    Best regards

Wow which news organisation has Apaches, SOC? 😀

I thought the crew was going to be subject to an investigation over rules of engagement from that incident (yes, I’ve seen both versions).

I’m pretty certain you’re right about Hawk: I’ve not seen any mention of a request nor approval from Congress that would apply. Interestingly, in 2002, they did give approval for the parts of the L-159 that needed clearance for IAF use.

    Nea Ank too remember….

On the subject of HAF, there are a couple of CL-415MP aircraft en route as we speak. They’re due to night-stop at Manchester this evening and continue their journey to Greece tomorrow: 2055/C-GHVX and 2059/C-GIWU are the pair.

p.s. PLA certainly has a point about embargoes etc. so does anybody know if there are ANY restrictions imposed by the USA on the LCA programme? It’s just that I notice the other day that Congressional approval was required for several systems including the engines.

I’m really not sure if people would decide whether or not to go on the basis of which particular squadron/unit an individual aircraft is operated by, Pegasus.

To be honest it’s very easy to work out for the more interesting/unusual aircraft anyway.

I do agree that it is a bit of a strange move but I guess it’s another ‘bonus’ for anyone chosing to join the FRIAT membership.

One way? Hardly, Vortex. I just find it amazing how dogmatic the “pro-USA” posters are on this forum.

My God but there’s some cr@p being talked here!

Maybe one of the pro-F-15K lobby can explain something to us all: WTF was the point of the so-called “competition”/fly-off/call-it-what-you-will because every single point that’s been raised in favour of the F-15K here was already known in advance.

Hey, the Koreans could have saved a fortune, and everybody’s time and money, and just asked the pro-Mud Hen lobby here for their recommendations 😀
