Gripen have no competion in “bang for the buck” area.
That make perfectly sense if you think you will never use the Gripen for military missions.
Dassault’s recent responses to the Swiss loss & events in the UAE suggest a serious attitude problem, which cannot help sales.
Perhaps we have a cultural gap here, but what are you talking about exactly ?
Nobody wants to buy from a firm which acts as if it’s doing you a favour by selling you its products. Customers worry about what support they’ll get, & future upgrades.
So, nothing related to the behaviour of a company which not a supplier ?
However, I’m a little bit pessimistic after all these failures, the French really need to rethink their strategy as it seems to be the main cause for their failures thus far.
To be totally honest, even if for export failure, we can conclude that something went wrong, can we be sure that it’s always because of the same reason ?
Between Korea, Marocco and Switzerland, we have three totally different failures and no way to find a common reason.
And Scooter -2 points:D:D:D
Many people were quite wrong about eurocanard in India. 😀
But it’s funny to read that trhead several years after, my few limited political consideration were even more limited than I thought 🙁
He asked: “Correct me if I am wrong….”
He was.
He was corrected.
Errr, no.
For instance, about the ranking between Rafale and Typhoon, there is only 3 choices:
Rafale above, behind or equal to Typhoon.
There is no “moot” answer in Switzerland.
There is no “paperwork” answer in Holland.
There was no tests in Saudi Arabia, so, no answer.
Austria tested mirage 2000, so, no answer.
In Japan, there is no comparison of those two planes, so, no answer.
You even try to deny that the Rafale was ahead in SK and Singapore, my god, your personnal problem with Rafale is frightening.
In India, we don’t know for sure, so I won’t say anything.
Swiss competition: Gripen (even if I wish for Dassault to won that one)
Indian MRCA: F-18E (real politic before anything else)
Brazil FX: Rafale (same as above)
Libya: Flanker (or Spitfire Mk-IX, it’s all about Kadhafi mood)
Nederlands: F-35 (because it was signed)
Glitter: one point 😀
Only Flex297, Spitfire9, PLA-MKII and Swerve are still in the race after the information from Switzerland and India.
EELightning and USS Novice, disqualified because of too many answers :p
You’re wrong.
Still such a pleasure to read from you.
I don’ t understand the apparent arrogance of Dassault.Dassault with ZERO export in 10 years is in no position to say to anybody ‘ take it or leave it’
what went wrong?
Because, we know that UAE would like to have two main allies, USA + another country to be able to counter the two risks for the nation (one big: Iran and another lsser one: Saudi Arabia).
A second allie because of the link USA ans saudi Arabia.
Russia is out of question because of its links with Iran.
France is THE second strategic partner with a base in the country, so for Dassault, it seems they think that nobody can replace us.
Germany will not found a base there and UK cannot (for what I understand, but a british friend told me that I read too much british newspapers 😀 ).
China seems not a reliable partner for now, so, Dassault may think that UAE don’t have any choice.
But perhaps they are right, nobody can replace us before years. The problem is that, for cultural reason, emiratis governement don’t want to ovepraid their Rafale fleet. And I perfectly understand them.
I can think of two reasons straight away:
1 Price. If the buyer makes it clear that he will not pay the price asked but the seller refuses to reduce the price to an acceptable level, you get no deal.
2 Proper enquiry management. The contact on the seller’s side dealing with the potential sale should not be changed a number of times during the course of negotiations as has happened here.
1. Sure, but the question is more is it that the Rafale offer is still very expensive or that UAE have unrealistic expectation.
2. Well, if we have the same issue as in Marocco, we really deserve to lose again.
JOUST was a simulator based on the data available to Qinetiq.
Could you remind me the range estimated for the MICA forthat evaluation ? 😀
Well, BTW, are you aware of the gap between those conclusions and reality ?
Both sides are guilty of it, and when I say BOTH sides I mean Eurofighter GmbH AND Dassault. When the latter claimed blatantly false A/A victories over the Typhoon
Again, thanks to prove the point, undocumented bad news about the Rafale must be taken for granted, official good news for the Rafale must be dismissed without any reason.
So, we can see the point of totally stupid marketing trick like JOUST or the last newspaper from Eurofighter, put it deep into brains and people won’t be able to take it out themselves.
Shame Dassault didn’t put as much effort into their negotiation skills! :diablo:
Honnestly, even on french forums, we are still wondering what is wrong with this *********g negociations
Ah yes. I forgot, the merest word that could sound negative towards the Rafale is like asking the Pope if he has Iron Maiden’s The Number of the Beast on his ipod…
Dammit Rafale fanboys who ask for source.
Actually it’s fair game now IMO. Dassault started it with all those misrepresented “air victories”, so they should expect similar to come back at them.
Because it’s well known that everyone took JOUST for what it is, just nice slides for the lulz ??
Now why the change? do they smell blood or is it a knee jerk reaction to impending bad news.
Its certainly different the real question is why?
Cheers
Perhaps the information about Lybia ?
The Rafale was the only plane to fly above the country before the massive cruise-missile strike from USA and even after, the only plane to fly without support of Growler.
Of course, I would be in the marketing team of Eurofighter Gmbh, I would try to paint a different picture.
I’d be more inclined to believe the reason would be that Sarkozy was quite busy talking to Merkel & Papandreou at the G20 meeting. It’s a bit of a stretch to speculate this has anything to do with MMRCA.
That sound very plausible only if you spend too much time on such forums :dev2:
It is funny to think that UAE,INDIA and Switzerland should take their decision is approx the same time frame (possibly). I know that we can always be surprised but it would be quite extraordinary if ever these three countries make their decision in the same month or week…After all these years stars might be at last favourable for the rafale (or not:D)
I thought the same 😉
Perhaps a good suprise in only few weeks during the Dubai Air Show.
