I think that M88-3 datas are bogus since the eco core will have the same diameter than current M88-2 or am I mistaken ?

These datas are for the M88-3, not the ECO.

To my understanding so far, an increment in M88’s thrust, will come by increasing the engine’s (compressor’s only??) diameter.

If this is the case, how easy will it be to incorporate it, to the rafale?

    1) As Arthuro and Global Press want to express is that since the first press release from SNECMA about the 9t M88, perhaps some breakthought allowed to dodge that problem.
    2) Obviously, any change on the M88 is design to be easily incorporate into the Rafale.

Sorry it is possible to rate it at 90kN looks like you still miss some bits here and then.

It looks possible since FEASABILITY studies said so.

Whatever, no more to say about this quote, in FACT, the AIM-9B set-up was WAY more reliable than the R-530 one, please get yourself informed before writing.

I was speaking of the implementation, why are you talking of missiles ?

It was tested at 90 kN and certified as a possiblity as always you are missing information and take it for granted.

Certified at 90Kn ? Have you got a link for that ? Because it wasn’t written in your previous link.

Am’ worried about your habbit to dismiss information you do not have.:dev2:

I’m worried about your habbit of admitting information favorable to the Rafale that you do not have.

You’re spot on, only Glitter is a couple YEARS late that’s all… http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r279/sampaix/flat.gif As usual…

The information quoted are a coupels years old, but are from SNECMA.
But I’m sure posters from that site prefer this kind of source than your personnal fantasies.

I agree but it could be ready in a limited time frame and with alimited cost if ever a need materializes. Knowing the time frame between an order and a delivery, this time frame should be negligeable.

    I haven’t denied that 😉

    :D:D

DAtas from the SNECMA website (that has been erased since then)

    M88-2
    Diameter/Caliber 700mm 27.56-in
    Length 3.5 m 12-ft
    Max Weight 897 kg 1,978-lb
    Thrust 75.5 kN 17,000-lb
    Airflow 65Kg/s

    M88-3
    Diameter/Caliber 790mm 31.1-in
    Length 3.6 m 12-ft
    Max Weight 985 kg 2,172-lb
    Thrust 89.9 kN 20,250-lb
    Airflow 72Kg/s

yes i can beleive that snecma in their worst ever design could be wrong on 20% parts of an engine, but 60% of an engine only to increase a lil the life, wow…

a little ? They promised something like 50%.

    some studies?

    http://www.snecma.com/IMG/pdf/Note_d_informations_Snecma__M88_pack_CGP_VF_OK.pdf

    oh well, ok!

M88 that would be produced in 2011 will be only more endurant?

nice new for the adla and customers!

    It’s written in French.
The M88 ECO is a more ECONOMICAL engine and more reliable.

Thanks to the change on the core M88, a 9t is feasable, not ready.

    i though it was clear!
    but you dont this:

    in doing this:

long range producting spares, mean its 2 years long, so the 9t version…

    Yes, I don’t this.

The paragraph was clear, some studies for the 9t M88, nothing more.

Or at least a special number of Rafale M/C/B’s making them slightly better AtA performer, but undermining the claim the French Airforce wants them all at the same standard.

    Are you kidding me ?
That “myth” is dead for quite sometime already 😉

Didn’t DGA award the contract to SNECMA for this putpose?

    Not at all.
I can only see the building of 16 M88 ECO at 7,5t.

Never been a problem, cost IS, integration of foreign weapons is totaly possible with French designed buses, ex; the Mirage III were equiped with AIM-9Bs back in 1970’s this blah-di-blah about integration is the usual Uninformed gossip.

Of course it’s possible, but longer, more expensive and less reliable.

    google traduction:
Now the M88 ECO is ready for sale (9t or increased life span) on export markets as well as the rbe2 AESA. I think that the rafale is becoming even more competitive. A rafale fitted with two 9t engine should have a huge trust to weight ratio. I don’t know the exact numbers of competitors aircrafts, but this T/W should be one of the best if not the best available on the market.

Nope, the 9t has seen “feasability studies” and would required some devellopement before being available on the market.
But I’m not worried about that.
Posters on forums would LOVE to see 9t M88 while most AF would love to have a 7,5t M88 with a very low MCO

The problem with comparing the Typhoon to the Rafale is that you are comparing an aircraft with over 700 orders, with ~150 aircraft delivered to an aircraft with a possible order of 294 (but only ~120 contracted so far) and ~60 delivered.

Its also comparing an aircraft that will be in service with at least 7 countries to an aircraft that as of yet has only been ordered for one airforce. The Typhoon is therefore most likely to receive the most comprehensive upgrades as the costs would be funded across multiple countries and over a much larger number of airframes.

From a pure theorical point of view, you’re very right.
Problem, if you look at both programs, the one who has a hard time to get funds for upgrade, it’s the EF2000.

Luckily there are a few deals open where it might be no problem like Brazil or Lybia.

India might work as well, although I think that they have integrated many parts of Israeli origin into their current inventory, which might be a problem for Rafale.

    Isreali avionics ?
I think that it’s a real problem for each competitors (perhaps a bit less for Mig).

File mou, trust me it is.

Maybe you should ask some of the HAF engineers.
Since the days they were trying to make the ΑΙΜ-9 work with the F-1CG.

Besides the efforts of both Greek and French, it was never done properly.

Mirage F1 and 2000 use 100% french bus, perhaps it’s the root of such problem.
    Rafale use international standard.

seems that the production of the M88 9t engines started, with new pieces improved from the ECO program that ended in 2007..

Where the hell have you seen that in the article ?

The only who I know who sentenced for bribery is Serge Dassault (2 years probationary).

The truth that we aren’t that good for briberies 😀

    http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P1-51324209.html
Dateline: SEOUL, South Korea French aerospace giant Dassault Aviation may lose a multibillion dollar fighter jet project in South Korea after its local agent was implicated in a bribery scandal, local media reported Monday.

Yes, the dassault agent paid twice the restaurant to a Korean officer.
Obviously, the Rafale was in front of the competition

Exactly, we threatened the Austrians to print fake Austrian Euro notes with Hitler’s face on it (as the best known Austrian), further on we threatened them with invasion if they don’t take the Eurofighter. We are so desperate.

No, it was more simple, Dassault proposed the mirage 2000 that fit the received Austrian request but it looks like it wasn’t what Austria had in mind.

After the problem in Norway, Korea and Austria, everyone undersatnd why Dassault is fed up with close competition and don’t want to waster energy on those one like Japan.

The French are the masters of bribery, fishy political deals and innovative financing when it comes to weapons deals.

Obviously, the Eurofighter team has done a much better job than Dassault on that one.

The probability of the RBE2 AESA tested in swiss is high. We had already rumors that the rafale B301 is fitted with an AESA antenna.

The term used by the forumer was more like “top notch radar” 😎

Of course, export success is highly needed, not for a matter of money, but to maintain the production rate.

Be caerful, for what I understand, IN CASE of export, the delivery rate for the french navy and army will be 8 per year, but at worst, it will remain at 11 per year.

I’m not saying that he’s a Typhon basher, just that he’s a patriotic Frenchman

How can you be sure ?

and a loyal Dassault employee, so he naturally ‘talks up’ his own company’s product.

Well, that’s the best way to get a company to bankrupt.

I’m quite prepared to believe that Rafale ‘beat’ the F-15 in Korea – though I don’t have reliable evidence to support that contention.

    http://www.defencetalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5760
The French-built fighter Rafale reportedly beat the F-15K by a narrow margin in the technical phase of evaluation

Having spoken to evaluation pilots who have flown both I CAN say. What I can’t do, without a scan of a signed affadavit, or of the evaluation report, is PROVE it.

Wow, no leakeage about what happened there from french or american guys who went to Singapore but a major leak from the singaprian pilots themselves ? 😀

I suspect that my saying that each aircraft enjoys advantages and disadvantages annoys the dyed in the wool Rafale fanboys because they’re too prejudiced and too xenophobic to admit to Typhoon having any advantages over their beloved Rafale, and too ignorant to acknowledge a superior MMI, for example (which they don’t understand because it’s difficult to quantify to a lay audience).

Could you tell me how “typhoon users” opinion can be revelant when talking about a plane which is much more versatile ?
And, of course , could you tell me why everyone found the Rafale MMI exceptionnally good except you ?
You and Mr Lake of course.

The day I see a French forumer acknowledge Typhoon’s superior MMI (as many French pilots have done, and as I acknowledge the Rafale’s superior low level ride and low level handling characteristics, or the Rafale’s current superior A-G capabilities, or the strength of Dassault’s programme management) I’ll know that I’m dealing with a pro, or at least with an unbiased and intelligent amateur. But I won’t hold my breath, as so few French enthusiasts will admit any of Typhoon’s advantages, nor even that it has any.

I think I recognized several very good point of the Eurofighter already, but I’m not suprised that you can’t remind that.

“The ridiculous one does not keep silent”?

Sorry TMor, are you aligning yourself with this idiot? I thought you more intelligent than that.

Dear Mr Lake, I think that the weird, or should I write stupid, behaviour of Thunder/Sampaix/Globalpress cannot be used as an opportunity to insult other members of the forum who don’t kiss your biased view over the Typhoon.

I am here to INFORM peopleA and i believe that is what your problem is, no more “i’ve been told” stories, reality strike and it doesn’t suit you perhaps so this “behavior” is disturbing your view of the real world.

To be honest my dear funcky friend, quite some time ago, I showed your posts to someone who works as an aerospace engineer. His conclusion “Good basics, no doubt about that, but don’t know how to put them together”.
So, obviously, some knowwledge, but that guy refuse to write anything in a forum to correct you (for obvious reason).

Well, I think I know a little about American Politics.

Honestly, during the 2003 anti-french assault, I had quite some bloody discussions with some americans posters …. who knew zilch to they own history.

Have you ever met Obama, McCain, or Bush………..I HAVE:D

I shook Mr Chirac’s hands and it hasn’t changed my life.
