Still, for the next 20 year it might be more cost effective to use PESA instead of AESA – the difference in capabilities is not that great, but cost might be much lower for PESA. Of course, its also very possible what in 10 year AESA radar will cost less than PESA radar.

About the PESA and EASA, what I can said is that
– By pluging an active one on the RBE2 you’re suppose to gain 20 or 30% of max range. Of course, in reality, figures might not be as sexy as it sound.

– the main diffrence is all the capabilities of the AESA, but need specific programs which comes with a price. For what I know, the F-35 will have the full monty while, still for the RBE2, only the more usefull ones are funded.

I think that between the barracuda and the Neuron, some differents are obvious.

The barracuda is more mature because the program is older but it seems the Neuron goal is to produce a more advanced product.
