I was not speaking about Kfirs, I was talking about the Mirages that USAF downed in confilcts π
Be careful
Mirage 2000/ F-15: 1/0 π
I can’t see how active cancelation would work against more than one radar, not to mention the new AESAs that spread the emmited signal in dozens of separates frequencies instead of only one (as in the case of mechanical scanned or phase scanned radars).
Nobody said that active cancellation is the ultimate weapon.
It’s just a way to save few moments (seconds) by trying to prevent an ennamy to track/lock the rafale.
It’s obvious that it cannot do anything against several sources.
and it won’t have Meteor until long after Typhoon.
Dassault could integrated the Meteor as early as the Typhoon I think for foreign customers.
The “french” Meteor is supposed to be late on the Rafale because the AdA want a different head seeker extrapolated from the MICA (with lots of Sweden components IIRC). Source Air & cosmos
What about “vanilla” version ? Who is in charge of it ?
A bit off topic, sorry
Hey, after all, the twin seater rafale has lots of fan like me .
About this 70-0 record…whats M2K record? I dont recall an M2K having ever been shot down…..and at least in A-G role the IAF can vouch for it being a damn good platform.
NO mirage 2000 has been shot down until now but it’s true that no real A2A.
Only the fatal day when a greek mirage destroyed a Turkish F-16
well not 160 but more close to 250 x MiG-29(MKI) for the same amount for what Mirage-2000-5 wud come
If we take the amount thats been in the media it says $9billion deal and for the MiG-29s its wud most likely cost $4.5-5 billion.
Unfortunately, these aircraft aren’t supposed to be bought just to put them in a museum.
When it comes to national security, we are very confident the Government of India is going to find the solution in its entirety in the F-16.
F-16 fighting falcons are the only plane who can protect national security π
The F-16 has proven itself. Its combat record is 70 to 0βnever been defeated in combat.
Well, 70-1 should be more accurate :dev2:
Mirage f1 you mean ?
But no, the SR-71 is a super stealth invisible plane that no one every sees or tracks. Just a little question though… in that article about the SR-71 recently in an AFM they mentioned that the Mig-31s used to practise intercepting them when they flew recon missions down the iron curtain.
IIRC, Ussr used radars with a lower frequencies than western coutrnies which are less accurate but less sensible to low RCS.
the jet’s RCS is really irrelevant since it’s afterburner plume is a nice, fat radar target at Mach 3 regardless.
If you’re talking of IR radiations, I’m not sure this was a real troubles with 60’s sensors.
Not really. Here’s a list of all the Blackbirds made and what happened to each:
And no one is supposed to have been shoot down.
Remember that british radar operaters detected SR-71 at over 400 km away coming to Farnborough airshaw a years ago. So, its RCS is surely very large.
It’s just like B-2 or LO plane which has a way to be easily track during this kind of flight.
The Sr-71 flew over France without being noticed for years.
IF you think SR-71s were never shot at you’re sadly misinformed.
Easy to say, hard to prove.
Anyway potential cost savings from a single engine and rdy-2 alone is not enough to mainly justify spending 60+ million on aircraft.
COuld you provide us a reliable source about this price for the IAF ? Thanks a lot.
this i want to see, could you please post the link? Even the manufacturer website gives it as 60km+ and calls it a medium range bvr –
http://www.mbda.net/site/FO/scripts/siteFO_contenu.php?lang=EN&noeu_id=124In either case, the m2k-5 is one dangerous beast, probly too much for the IAF MiG29 1vs1. situation may change after the upgrades though.
Peace,
USS.
1) It is written in front of your eyes: “> 60 km”.
Two years ago, it was “> 50km”.
2) taiwan manage some succeful test at more than 70Km
3) In fact, it’s all about the relative speed and altitude of the launcher/target.
A french pilot told me “Don’t forget that at 150Knot and 100 feet, the MICA cannot reach a Mach2 and 10 000 feet target at 8 miles”
Mica (which has range of around 50km for radar guided version
The AdA website quote the max range as “>80km”.
Happy ? π
