You got to be right, they didn’t consult with you first! Because we all know you have all the information. Got forbid, these people who actually do these thing for living not consult you! What were they thinking.

I mean, they have million dollar equipments to do these test and they have resources at hand, but hey next time they should consult you and your amazing skills at doing google search.

Because they have ressources, they know all very secret datas ?
Hey, look only at the MICA. The range was underestimated (by MDBA himself) at that time, around 45-50km but taiwan manage to reach 70km.

I read several website who state that if the catapults are compatible with planes weighting up to 20 tons, you can have more limitations just like with the elevators to the deck (able to lift 15 tons).
OF course, with some engineering, you can adapt (unless a fundamental problem with modern airplanes) the Foch to use rafale or F-18 but is it worth the effort ?

    F-18 Hamburger
the Brazilians might as well save money to purchase a more capable carrier (which in itself isn’t a bad idea too)

    Which more capable carrier ?

In several years, Switzerland will open a competition IIRC.

Since it’s the US administration who gladly accept the recent move of Quadafi, I’m sure he will be closer to them.

Frankly, I don’t see why Lybia would bought real stuff from France or even most countries.
A rafale/Eurofighter is very complex, a Su35 is hard to maintain, well, only time will tell.

This assumes that the A400 won’t have teething problems or huge cost overruns of its own.

The A400 is a brand new platform is certainly better for a adpatating new technologies.
Anyway, I would trust Airbus any day of the week over an american compagny.

U don’t mass produce something with major problem

Nobody here speaks of a major problem.
Just something thatcould have been better …. with the good information at the beginning.
In France, lots of journalist used ot have fun of the Cdg carrier because the bridge was a bit short in extreme conditiopn for the hawkeye and four meters has been added.

    or u don’t satisfy,right?

    wrong

It would tilt the balance heavily in favour of the Rafale cause the French are desperate for a customer for it and would agree for something close to a TOT and joint development for upgrades.

Obviously, the rafale team is far less desesperate than the Eurofighter countries.
India can easily get TOT for the mirage 2000, but is near impossible for the rafale.

-the Typhoon is a totally new airframe

didn’t know the rafale was an old design

    -it is very agil

Even if the eurofighter is more agile than the rafale, the french airplane still own the best range, payload ….

-compatibility to existing and planned weapons -which is the great advantage over Rafale

With the exception of the AMRAAM, what do you have in mind ?

Production EF2000s will be considerably lighter than the test aircraft currently in service, since they won’t have to carry around test instruments and data recording equipment, so this acounts for the extra weight loss here.

I’m pretty sure that production eurofighter will have some equipement that the tests EF2000 don’t.

Well afaik Rafale was clearly favored until Typhoo was demonstrated in Singapore. It has been rumored, that the plane exceeded the expectations and left the competitors stunned.

I would like to see more than a single article about it. 🙂

Especially stunning was the supercruise performance. They did it with ease on a normal hot day. And they seem to have hit a bit more then just Mach 1.0.

And I have seen several ppl arguing that the EF2000 who performed that day was a full ton lighter than normal Eurofighter.

Furthermore the Captor seems to have worked better, then the technolgy wise more advanced competitor.

Please, define “worked better” and show me the comparison with two AESA radar.

    Yourfather:
    that argument isn’t that important.

Anyway, even if politics is an important factor, singapore is much more independant from the US army than South Korea so, even US pressure wouldn’t sound decisive at first glance.

Brazil Seen Ending Plan To Buy 12 New Fighter Jets-Report (Posted: Friday, January 07, 2005)
[DOW JONES NEWSWIRES, Jan. 7, 2005]

SAO PAULO — Brazil’s government has abandoned plans for a $700 million air force contract to buy 12 new fighter jets, local newspaper O Estado de Sao Paulo reported Friday.

Government officials contacted by Dow Jones Newswires declined to either confirm or deny the report.

The Brazilian Air Force, which has said it needs to upgrade its fighter force has tested planes made by Embraer (ERJ) and Dassault (12172.FR); U.K. and Swedish aerospace groups BAE Systems PLC (BA.LN) and Saab AB (SAAB-B.SK); the U.S.’s Lockheed Martin Corp. (LMT); the Russian Aircraft Corp., Sukhoi, and Avibras.

The Brazilian Defense Ministry is studying the possibility of buying used fighter jets without a bidding process, according to the newspaper, which cited government sources.

Recently, two partnerships, one between Embraer and Dassault Aviation SA, and the second, between Sukhoi, the Russian Aircraft Corp. and Avibras Aeroespacial, were regarded by market watchers as the favorites to win the Brazilian contract.

Air force sources quoted by O Estado de Sao Paulo blamed government budget restrictions for the decision to drop plans to buy new fighter jets.

About the cost of the Mirage, well, I fear that we can only speculate about it since the rumor saying that 80+ mirage will be MADE in India.

well then the lock on certainly won’t be “invisible”. lock-on will still be detectable, only the probability of that happening is lowered. real LPI is achieved only via use of AESA radars.

the RDY can’t give information when the mode switch from “scan” to “track” that’s why he used the word “invisible”.
So that the other pilot can’t know if the mirage is on the point to launch a missile, that can be a good point for the mirage.

EDIT I never heard about SLAR on the -9
