    Look at the miarge 2000.
    Do you understand the difference between a first 2000 C in 84 and a -mk2 now ??

Well, the UAE bought that plane and LM manage to make money with that single contract.

I don’t see any questions to ask about that.

Of course, from an UAE point of view, damn, I think that the block 60 is more expensive than the Rafale

About Brazil, IIRC, the winner should be known in few months.

Since we are talking about the mirage 2000-5, what version of Mig 29 are we talking about ?
    SMT ? Sniper ?

It should be not as cheap as the mig used to be I think.

the AdA did some test vs “normal” mig 29 in East Europe, that wasn’t even funny.

    Yes.
the first rumors about it are pretty old but Air&Cosmos and all are talking openly about it since 2003.

how much will it cost to buy 125 M2ks??

Assuming the costs are around 60 million, (some sources say its higher, some says its lower…)

We’re talking about 7-8 BILLION dollars of ORDERS!

Can India afford these? Dont forget the logistics, weapons, training and other initial costs…it could go upto 10 billion dollars.

Say if its done…where will the LCA be standing in the whole picture???

Well, as long as we don’t know the details of the deal with Dassault, we cannot know the price of each mirage.
but we can assume that it would be still a bit high.

    Then, logistics etc ..
From mirage 2000 H to 2000-5, the IAF will haev to update the knowledge of maintenance crew etc .., right but not as expensive as you may think.

But you forgot the main point, MAINTENANCE.
Getting ride of several hundreds MIG would save quite a high sum.

Rafale and Typhoon have no one to blame but themselves if they lose this deal. I would have thought they would have learned something from the Korea deal and have real A2G weapons certs complete and ready to go.

And you believe that this can be done in two weeks ?

Except with the funding problem, why everyone assume that if the IAF buy more mirage, it means that the LCA is in trouble ?

Perhaps the normal agenda of the LCA is a bit short.

    “Boeing Integrated defense Systems,
said at a press conference that he didn’t
want to discuss the specifics of his offer
“because I’m right in the middle of a
competition. If I say that I’m going to do
this, then somebody else is going to get
up and say, ‘well I’m going to do this plus
this.’ The first or second people on
    stage never stand a chance.”
Asked if this applied to the competition,
he joked that it might. When it was
noted that the F-15 is second on the
evaluation schedule, he replied that he
was “not overly worried about number
    three,” the Typhoon.”

For me, the problem is that with an incredibly high deense budget, the USA can cut some program.

If Mr Kerry must be the next president, you can be sure that it will drop by quite a margin.

    Which is next ?

    It’s a bit more complex.
Thales ans others compagnies have a deal to make the AMSAR, a european AESA with different technologies for much more cheaper MMIC than american MMIC of 90’s.

But next, you must use these MMIC to make a new array for the rafale ….. something that the AdA don’t want since

    1) low intensity conflict RBE2 + SPECTRA can handle threats
    2) High intensity conflict Awacs + link16 is the happy couple. 😉

BUT for AF since each AESA Rafale wouldn’t need external support and could act alone.

Since Singapor has Hawkeye, that wouldn’t be a real argument.
    ToT for AEASA is
