I find severalsites which stated that the M53 is outdated and that a new engine could be a very nice boost for the range.

What did they ? They gave advices about how to introduce things and all, nothing related to the army I think.

Look at their article, it’s more like a press release.

Many modern and competent air forces do not have this level of training….

that doesn’t show anything but that the RSAF has plenty of money (or should I say used to have)

I’ve got the opinion of a pilot instructor, sorry, that’s enough for me.

I think another link with the opinion of a general from the vatican should be much better 😀

Perhaps in your crappy country, information are controled by the gov, in modern democracies, it’s not the case anymore.

No. And you know why ?
Because you know that you can’t show us the greatness of the RSAF.

Two Mirage F-1 fighters laden with incendiary bombs and two MiG-23s (along as fighter cover) took off from bases in Iraq. They were spotted by US AWACs, and two Royal Saudi Air Force F-15s were sent to intercept. When the Saudis appeared the Iraqi MiGs turned tail, but the Mirages pressed on. Captain Iyad Al-Shamrani, one of the Saudi pilots maneuvered his jet behind the Mirages and shot down both aircraft. After this episode, the Iraqis made no more air efforts of their own, only sending most of their jets to Iran in hopes that they might someday get their air force back. (Iran never returned the jets.)”

    The point is US AWACs

anyway, that shows they can push some buttons, that’s a good news 😀

In most armies, you can achieve a good carrer thanks to your skills.
It doesn’t work like that in SA.

Like I said, why did they buy Tornados and Eagle that they can’t maintain or even fly (lots of Pakistanese pilots IIRC) ?
Hardly a proof of the saudi competence.

Tornados and F-15 are there for nearly 20 years.

Perhaps you missed the word PILOTS.

I will make it even more simple.
No arab AF have got good pilots and most arab pilots find the Saudi pilots to be craps.

Saudi would have been a serious opponent but no one can believe that SH could lost.
WHy je didn’t try ? Because his goal was to take over Koweit, not Saudi Arabia.
He thought that nobody would say anything about it but was sure that if he touch SA, all western nations would attack him.

    1) He personaly met french instructors in UAE. And Emirates pilots said them that Saudi pilots are crap.
    2) Saudis are so lazy that they can’t maintain their own planes.
On the other hand, when you’ve got a crap ground crew, you don’t buy Tornados, F-15 and M1, so crappy officers.

Sorry, you’re totally wrong on that.

The manoeuvrability at the end of the envellope is related to the architecture of the missile.

without fuel or chemical equivalent, an AMRAAM is an empty shell.
If the missile must tuern, it must apply a force at on side … and broke the missile.

MICA or Aster, with a differen system avoid that issue.
