I doubt it’s from a DC10. Only the Dc10-40 had JT9Ds and these were only operated by JAL and Northwest. BA(ie. BCAL) Dc10s had CF6 engines..

    Looks too big for a CFM56 imo..a JT9D maybe?

Excellent report; I need to improve the detail of mine to compete. I have flown on Monarch 4 times(B757 LGW-MAH-LGW in 1987 and A300 LGW-ACE-LGW in 1996) and always had great flights/service.

Looks good for NCL, but come on Easyjet when are you going to add more a/c and services from EMA? CGN/CIA only replaced GLA/BCN. Then BMIbaby drop BCN so services go from 2/day to zero…

Yup… They did it with EMA-BRU, no reason why the rest shouldn’t in the fullness of time. A large number of reglar business passengers that have gone down the road to BHX because they don’t want the huge queues at EMA, they don’t want the hassle of Baby not allowing return same day checkin, they want through checkin and baggage to other destinations, they want to be able to change their tickets without penalty or hassle, they don’t want the crap service Baby provides for what is often no lower a ticket price than BA charge ex BHX if they book at short notice. And they want the frequent flyer miles, the express (gold/silver card) checkin, and the lounges. What BMI did by changinf to Baby at EMA was push the vast majority of high-yield traffic to other airports, BHX especially, leaving Baby with all the lower yielding stuff. Baby is not performing anywhere near as well at EMA as they are at MAN and its the leisure routes that are really holding them up – over time they’ll move more capacity into MAN (and maybe LGW if that works out well) at the expense of EMA. They will pull off more of the business routes – its just a matter of time.

Several work colleagues frequently used BMIbaby on EMA-BRU and paid @£100 most of the time. When flight reverted back to BMIRegional cost went upto £445!!! I suspect they couldn’t fill the 737s but the ERJs are running at near to full capacity.

More to the point, SN Brussels operate both types hence a/c seen could be either 146 or ARJ.

The photos reminded me what an odd undercarriage layout was fitted on the Trident; still a great a/c though.

    Thesaint,

I did a similar thing back in Feb 2001; flew MAN-EWR-IAH and selected a flight on a DC10 from IAH to EWR as Continental were due to retire them later that year.

Why was the TCX 757 using r/w 25 for take-off when the Isl 737 and Myt 320 had both landed on r/w 07??

    Gary,

Sorry to report bad news but the Gatwick-Detroit flights are operated by the venerable DC10 until the end of October. Most(if not all) the A330s on transatlantic are operating into Schiphol at the moment. This site lists actual a/c that have operated flights upto 2 days ago: http://www.lhr-lgw.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk

Not suprised but BAA need to re-think this, the last time I saw them close this road (for @1 hour) it caused a 2 mile traffic jam which meant my journey to the nearby “Parking express” long term park took @40 mins instead of 5 mins! Clearly other passengers on the bus to the terminals had not expected this and were nervous about missing the check-in for their flights.

Ryanair has backed down from its policy of being Europe’s meanest airline when it comes to cabin baggage.

The airline has increased the carry-on luggage allowance from just 7 kilos to 10 kilo with immediate effect.

The current hold baggage maximum allowance of 15 kilos per passenger remains unchanged and is the least offered by any European airline.

Never an airline to give anything away if it can help it Ryanair’s excess luggage charge has gone up 12.5% to £4.50/E7 per kilo.

Many IT carriers(eg Thomson/First Choice etc) allow only 5kg of cabin baggage.

Turkish a/l operated 2 A320s back in 1996-7. EI-TLG/J were leased from Transaer and operated in full colours.

I doubt there were 110 flights for the England/Portugal match..there woudn’t be sufficient spare a/c to call up at such short notice.

I have flown Iberia several times this year and wasn’t overly impressed. The first flight was MAN-BCN ret in April. Although no food served, I bought a club sandwich which was quite good. Outbound flight was delayed 2 1/2hrs; 1 1/2 of which was sat in the a/c..not ideal. Ret flight was fine and price…£76 (bargain) and much cheaper than BMIbaby/Monarch.(£120-130)
This month I flew LHR-MAD-LIS ret and this gave a good comparison between BA and Iberia. Both BA flights went well, good service, decent free food/drinks. Iberia flight to LIS went ok until landing..(hardest I’ve experienced on a 757 and weather seemed good ). Return flight delayed 1 1/2hrs, worst a/c I ‘ve been on..dirty/cramped MD88. Landing was interesting..relatively steep/fast but afaik a characterisitc of this type. Fortuantely @80 passengers were connecting to our flight to LHR so they held the BA 767 @40mins. In summary, BA much better but I would fly Iberia again if the price was right.
