Thanks so much for that reply RIP, sounds great. Im staying at the Amaryllis Apartments with First Choice. I will just have to grin and bear the airport! I really want to see the turtles and smugglers cove.
Sandy – I have flown on loads of 757s, last year I flew two Britannia 757s, a MyTravel 757 and a TCX 753! And I love them, any other a/c I would think ‘Oh no not that again!’, but not the 757, cant get enough of it.
No problem, I don’t think I’ve heard of where you are staying, but when I went it was with Direct Holidays and not First Choice. I didn’t take a boat to Smuggler’s Cove, but I looked down on it from the point where all the pics of it on the postcards are taken…. 🙂 Oh yeah, presuming nothing much has changed over the last couple of years, watch out the bikers on the main strip/road! 😮 Kamakazee would be an understatement! 😮
I’ve been to Kalamaki a couple of years ago, it’s a great place. I loved the 2 weeks I spent there and would go back there in a heartbeat.
Laganas next door is nowhere near as nice. What is the name of the place you are staying?
The aircraft approach over the outskirts, so you’ll probably see them side-on, when I visited the one interesting thing I can remember was an Slovakian Tu154. The good thing about Zante is that there is a curfew so you don’t get disturbed when you are sleeping by aircraft noise. Where I was staying was perfect, the balcony looked out on to the final approach path and from there I could make out the airline and aircraft type.
As for the airport, I’ve done Corfu too, even that doesn’t prepare you for Zante! 😮 😉 I arrived on a B752 and that filled the terminal, when I departed their were 3 or 4 B752s all heading out, Oh my God!!! That place was hell! The heat, as it was the afternoon, the severe lack of space!
But don’t let that put you off, because the heaven of the resort and Island will far out way the hell of the airport. 😀
Make sure you hire a pedalo thing from Kalamaki beach and go out looking for the loggerhead turtles, for me that was just as amazing as watching the planes land over me all day! 😀
There’s one parked at Cargo nearly every day, wonder what time it arrives/leaves.?
Cargo schedules at EDI would be nice to see. 🙂
Turn up from about 8.30 pm onwards though and you’re going to see a lot of cargo movements from Emerald, Channex, UPS, Bluebird, Islandsflug etc I’d say.
Never been lucky enough to snap one.
Got this TNT on Concorde day…
http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=172270
It came in just ahead of Concorde, the skipper must have been wondering what the thousands of spectators were up to. 😀
I too saw the TNT A300 then. 🙂 Infact, not seen at TNT A300 at EDI since then, plenty BAe146s though, and many DHL and the odd Islandsflug A300, but not TNT.
The passengers were also unhappy about what they claim was an unscheduled stop to refuel at Shannon Airport in the Republic of Ireland on the outward flight.
How could it be unscheduled, a fully loaded 747 with a load of fuel to make it non-stop to Orlando wouldn’t get off of CWL’s runway, they couldn’t manage it at EDI, and the runway at EDI is almost 1000ft longer.
Are there that many people that want to go to Wales?????????
LOL, maybe not, but there’s that many people who want to get away judging by the fact the flight was departing CWL. 😀
The link doesn’t work!
Damn it! But like Hand87_5 said, it was earlier.
Got any UPS B763s Joe? 😀 Yes, there was one present at EDI tonight.
Yeah excellent pics! Especially the wing shot. Mine aren’t as good ,I was losing the light. 😉 🙂
Excellent pics, they must have been done to about minimums last night, the fog got so thick, and look at the state of the FR B732!
Going off topic a bit; When bmibaby first announced their winter routes Jersey & Toulouse appeared to have been canned from CWL. Now on their website not only are they on the route map but they are part of an offer for travel in September & October, which is obviously the winter schedule. So are they or arn’t they servicing these routes?
Staying off topic, I believe Sep and Oct are still the summer schedule, with the winter schedule beginning in November.
Good chance of a 767 or 777 easing the backlog then ?
True, they had been combining a lot of the shuttle flights it would seem yesterday, 2 flights merged into just the one.
Arrival at EDI, oh dear:
20.40 BA1462 HEATHROW EXPECTED 0315
THe backlog must be huge! That’s a bad delay, you may as well drive in the time that has been delayed for! 😮
Nice shots RIPConcorde and everyone else who has posted on here. Have to get myself to MAN at some point!
Thanks Dan, much appreciated, for a second I thought my pics had been totally forgotten about!
ONe guy working at the Concorde tour commented on how bad the weather was at 9am in the morning come to think of it! 🙂
The only possibility is that one or two PIAs passed while I was in Concorde.
They’re doing the same to the 752’s aren’t they ?
That photo link doesn’t work for me BTW.
It was working last night, I don’t think it’s been uploaded yet.
