They did confirm prior to 9/11 their intention to operate transatlantic routes from EDI. Obviously subsequent events put pay to that 🙁

Funny you should say that, as BA are having to take the majority of their 744 fleet out of service at particular intervals due to a potentially major problem with the engines. I’ll have to go and try and find a link or something to the story. But they put it down to whoever maintains the RB211s, who I think must be GE as Bmused said.
