I have already mentioned frictional forces as one of the possible causes. But I think if that was the case, you’d acually expect the Kinetic Energy to be less than the GPE, as energy would be lost in heat etc.
The fact that the KE is greater than the loss in GPE, makes me think that the air track would be leaning so that the truck is travelling slightly down hill. But I need some proper explanation, and maybe another way of proving that this is the case….
Hmm yes, annoying, isn’t it? 😉

Does it state the track is frictionless? That may be the purpose of the air track. Otherwise frictional forces might be playing a part in the difference?
I remember doing something similiar a year or two ago, or I probably did it twice in two years as I failed the course first time round, 😉 unfortunately I can’t remember some of the possible causes. 😉

Well for now I’m open to anything, obviouly Dan has pointed out that we are in PMI on the 9th and I’m also trying to get to AMS on the 30th with Stuart and Dan.
Look’s like I’ll be a last minute confirmer to the event 😉 and I should have a car by then so it’ll be even easier 😀 .
31st for AMS. 😉
Dare I say it, driving could even be an option for me if I can’t commit to anything early enough to be able to book reasonably priced flights. I’ve got relatives not far from MAN which would make that option easier.
This has been lurking somewhere in the back of my mind recently, mainly because I know it could be difficult this year with various other trips planned…
I’m a bit unsure of what I might be up to this summer apart from what’s booked so far so it’s kind of hard to commit to anything. End of July or 3rd week in August would probably be best as far as I’m concerned, however obviously we’re probably going to end up with the usual situation of not being able to find at date that can suit everyone. 😉
Was a surprise to me as well, I only stopped off at the petrol station at Newbridge and hung about for about 15 mins, maybe subbing for Air Scotland?
Air Scotland’s last scheduled flight from EDI was yesterday so it can’t of been them. Although the flight yesterday was done by an Excel B738, so there might be some connection…
Nice shots, especially 5B-DBV and G-FJEA, both I’ve flown on (that’s the 2nd thread I’ve said something like that). 😉
It’s amazing how similiar Helio’s basic livery looks to Excel’s once you’ve removed the titles!
Nice shots, what on earth was OH-LBS doing at EDI?! One I’ve flown on btw… 😉
Well it will be a dissapointment for LBA. But I think they have their aircraft over utilised. They have 4 routes into DUB with at least 2 flights a day somedays 4 and the amount of lenghty delays they have is ridicolous.
They need to cut down on routes and give their aircraft some down time and look after the routes which are making money.
Im not saying LBA-Poland isnt making money but Ireland-Poland is BIG business and the last thing they need is long delays espeically now that Ryanair are competeing on the routes.
On a side not WizzAir have just announced they will fly 3 times weekly betwwen Cork and Katowice.
Tell me about it, incredibly unreliable!! Although in fairness they have been doing alright from EDI since they got their latest B737.
Nice shots.
Ah…. Nice to see another batch of Polish bar staff turn up for the Edinburgh summer trade (lol) (LOT) 😉 😀
I could swear most of them arrive then never leave the airport the amount of Polish workers that are there now. 😉
It looks like there are two former Royal Jordanian A320’s on the market http://www.speednews.com/listings/history/xls/latestlistings.xls . C/N’s are very old and in need of some TLC. I wonder if they’re the aircraft in question?
These are believed to be the 2. It doesn’t surprise me that GRE have gone for the best they can get, or not. 😉
Nice shots as usual, EZAC in there too, EDI’s first based EZY A319. The dutch always seem to be waving. 😉
Liverpool Daily Post and Echo is reporting a first visit to Heathrow for an overnight stay on May 18th. Hope they are right.
It’s been confirmed by BAA, it’ll be arriving at Midday.
I won’t be there myself, just have to wait a couple of years until they are regulars at LHR…
Something I just happened to have on my HD
Our return flight was on a B752, it wasn’t so good. The crew etc were fine, but the flight itself was a bit rough. Turbulance for the whole flight, this was proper hardcore turbulance too 😉 . The seatbelt sign was on for the duration of the flight, CC couldn’t serve coffee etc, it was a nightflight of course, the B752 itself was cramped, especially compared to the A330. It was a long night, but the crew did their best given the situation.
