Nice pics, how did PIK escape all the snow?!

    Excellent shots! :).

Nice to see my favourite plane now has winglets! (Bloody Cable and Wireless ;)).

What’s more, they actually match the rest of the livery! 😉

EDI was chaotic to say the least this morning, things started happening about 0930. CO pax really took a beating, diverted to BFS, 4 hour delay, then once on the ground at EDI had to wait 30mins for a stand, took a few diversions from GLA, which at the time they probably couldn’t really cope with very well due to the delays, so that didn’t help matters…
To make things even better, the fire alarm went off, which mean hundreds of pax in one part of the departure lounge all had to trek outside! 😀

EDI has something like 3 based, all QCs, but the passenger ops only require 1. Strong rumours here that the B752s will be visiting EDI on a regular basis next summer, or earlier…

Very nice as usual, I’m yet to see an FR B738W at EDI.

There’s some sort of spooky irony in seeing a plane with ‘Freebird’ written on it, isn’t there… 😮

True! Never thought of that before, don’t suppose many others would either I guess.

Andrewman, It wasn’t a ‘bus or a Boeing it was a 146/RJ. I assumed that the crew were switching off the engine bleed air in turn trying to isolate the offending engine. With four of the blessed things it took longer than they thought!
B.T.W. I thought that you were slightly pressurized when you took off to keep the doors shut and prevent the pressurization “bump” on rotation?
(On rotation the outflow valve, if open is faced into the airflow by the rotation of the fuselage. It is turned into a ram air duct that will slightly pressurize the cabin causing a sudden pressure rise, i.e. a bump. For this reason the cabim is slightly pressurized during the taxi out. Also it stops the fools trying to jump out!)
Since you are our man at Airbus and what I have just said was told to me on a B737 course perhaps there is a difference between Airbus and Boeing operating proceedures?

From what I’ve read 146s are particularly bad when it comes to this problem?

Don’t talk to me about French. My Megane has just had new power steering pump, track rod ends, balljoint, wheel bearing, strut bearing, spring and all at 700quid. The thing is too noisy on the motorway too.

The brake pedal on the saxo seemed to travel down alot before they actually started to brake, but when they did they seemed OK. I’ve not hammered one so don’t know how they hold up in that dept.

The French are probably worse than the Italians these days with regards to quality. 😉

Yeah, the brakes don’t inspire much confidence on my car, might look at getting something done about it.

I was quoted over £3,000 insurance on the Megane, hell no! 😮

Meanwhile, I’ve been looking at the Punto, a great litle car. On my wishlist. What is the Toyota Yaris like as a starter car? Obviously I’m thinking too ahead but that’s life.

Toyota Yaris would be a good little car to start with, if you could afford it.

Obviously I could say my dream car was something like a Ferrari, but my dream car within reason is…

Yes they’re seriously nice for a little city car, I’ve already posted my dream car. 😉 Been lucky enough to have been driven around in one on a few occasions. I’m yet to hear a car engine that makes a nicer noise, although the Lamborghini Diablo is up there with it…. Infact I’m craving to hear it again… 😉

Is there any truth in the rumour that Jet2 are to base aircraft in the Canary’s?

Last I read what that they are basing on in TFS this winter to operate to the UK.

    Call that dirty?

    That’s ‘dirty’

    Moggy

Ok, even 3 weeks later it’s still not that dirty. 😉

I’m sure I could have just enough fun in that Puma without the bike having to be called on. 😉

What are the best starter cars? At the mo I’ve got my eyes set on the Peugeot 206 and Renault Megane Sport if I pass my test. Obviously, insurance might be high on both of them.

As a first car you need something that is cheap to run and ideally is no higher than insurance group 3. Something like a 1 litre Corsa or Fiat Punto etc
A 206 could be ok but a Megane Sport sounds a bit out of reach for a first car.
It all depends on what sort of budget you’ve got whether you can get a 10 year old Corsa or a nearly new 206.
