Eastern Airways are dropping the Edinburgh – Norwich route, last flight is Friday 17th March (currently flown with Saab 2000). On Monday 20th March the Saab 2000 will once again operate the Aberdeen – Norwich route instead, replacing a Jetstream 41. They also have another 6 J41’s to enter in service in the near future (G-MAJT entered service recently)

    Scott

Wow, surprised they are dropping the EDI-NWI route, they only just upgraded to Saab 2000s as well! BE going to 2x daily from this summer may have effected them…

    Nice shots!

First looks like an AC A330, second looks like a B747, maybe Lufthansa? Third one looks like a Nimrod!!

Please don’t mention that ‘drummer’ Tom. My night will be bad enough as it is. Remember what I was saying about how I’ve heard more musical car crashes?…

    Paul

LOL, “more musical car crashes”, very good!

Nice shots, Tom! Especially the shot EI-DLF.

Superb shots as usual, Dan. Particularly like the DL arrival shot.

I’d be up for an international meet… but maybe even further afield? St Maarten would be nice :p

We discussed this at DUB, it involved chartering an Eastern Jetstream to get there! 😀

My vote would probably be Zurich.
    + Ramp tour
    + Great for viewing
    + Fantastic scenery
    + Not too expensive
    + Museum
+ Maybe Geneva, Basle by rail??

    – Only real downside is traffic heavily biased towards Swissair.

Just had a look at traffic expected over a weekend in July and some interesting ones:

    Thai A340-600, Korean Air A330, Malaysian B777, Singapore B744
    Emirates A340-300, Qatar A300, Royal jordanian A321, SAA A340-200

    Usual American 763 , Continental 762, Delta 763, United 763 etc

Aeroflot A319, Macedonia 733, Montenegro F100, Adria CRJ, Styrian CRJ etc

Are EK not going to keep using the A345 for the summer?

I may be committing Blasphemy here, but is the Channel Tunnel an option?

i.e. if everyone does decide on a meet, but it isn’t easily accessible by air through lack of routes at local airport, or if the route does exist it is too expensive, would getting the train there be viable?

😮 You are! 😉 Although don’t let me stop you getting the train from Edinburgh to Zurich. 😉
With the possible exception of AMS, no-where is particularly cheap from EDI, even CGN on Germanwings was £125, which is why it wouldn’t bother to me a little extra to get to ZRH, I could fly KLM from EDI for about £160. For anyone living furthur South, Helvetic do LTN-ZRH, they might be quite cheap?

As much as the traffic/photo opportunities are important at an airport, I think the guys who originally planned to have a European meet were looking at the more ‘adventorous’ locations. I.E – Places that they might have not previously thought of going, I think a meet over a weekend should be somewhere that has a decent amount to look at in the actual surrounding of the airport (cue AMS jokes ;)).

AMS and MAN would suit me fine, but I think the guys who had the idea would prefer somewhere like ZRH or MAD.

The fact ZRH do a bus tour add something. ALthough it’sn ot the cheapest, however my funds allow to spend that little extra if it it’s worth it. :dev2:

I’d be happy to attend, if you ladies can stop fighting! :p

CGN I wouldn’t say is particularly worth it. I’ve been there once with Mark L. It was interesting enough for the day we spent, but probably not interesting enough if you were looking for somewhere quite varied/busy.

I’ve still got to get to AMS, and so that’s somewhere I’d try definitely to attend.

ZRH looks great…but we need to shop around a bit for flights.

I think DUS should be added to the list of potential places too…..

I considered DUS, flights looked quite expensive, although I’d definitely be interested. I’d prefer DUS to CGN tbh. ZRH would be my personal choice just now, even if it isn’t the cheapest option. KLM are the cheapest to ZRH I find for me anyway. However, we are a democracy. 😉 The reason I suggested a few is because it gives others a choice, and I’d be happy with any of them.

andrewm, if u and Mark are available 8-14th then maybe we should set the date for 8th-9th for definite then?

It was put on rushed job and is only a temp paintscheme so I guess some corners can be cut!

You’d of thought they could of made the titles a bit bigger though?

Flights to MAD, flights to LPA, car parking, hotels…. sounding expensive!

Is a great idea though, maybe a couple of meets in the summer, we definitly should have a mass AMS meet, even if there is a MAD/ZRH meet :D. AMS is just heaven :D.

Indeed, too expensive even for me. 😉 ZRH is probably as much as I’d want to pay as it’d still cost me about £150 to get there on KLM via AMS.
