748 / 780

I thought Cosford had a Andover? Or is it still with the SCoTT for future preservation? I remeber the HS748M prptotype being on the dump at Benson in the 80’s, shame it was not preserved.
Have Boscombe Down got and Andovers left in service?

The 780 that was on the fire dump at Benson was ‘recovered’ by BAe early 80’s to provide the centre section for the ATP prototype. The 780 had an extended (compared to 748) centre wing section to cope with the larger dia props and also had steel (rather than dural) ‘fingers’ that connected the wings together. Despite being on the fire dump the air frame was in relatively good condition.
