From memory 1942 is aircraft ammunition, otherwise would be just 42.
John, I think you need to install one nipple in the miiddle of the cable inner before threading the cable through the outers and dealing with the ends – if that makes sense.
You will see that the threaded adjusters for the outers on both parts are slotted, this allows the cable assembly complete with adjuster screws be be prefabricated and easily fitted and replaced.
If you only want it for static display then you will not need to pay that much! They are really not rare and not only used on the Hunter (Canberra for example),
Interesting, I thought that several complete aircraft had become unsaleable after Westlands declined to continue DA suppport some years ago?
Suggestions (most costly first)
1. Farnell have loads of “mil spec equivalent” connectors – you will need both halves
2. You may be able to find some on ebay if you look long enough – make sure you get both halves. There were some cheap brand new ones fromthe Far East as well as surplus.
3. Replace the back panel with a new made one and use D connectors – very low cost
I think they may be MIL-C-22992. They will be very costly, expecially with non-standard keyways which will probably be machined out of solid to order. (There is usually a default keyway for most people but the specials are an even smaller market.) If you are not going to fit it back into the Merlin then I would swallow your pride and hot wire it, or for a high class job, remove them and fit low cost commercial equaivalents in the same holes.
Telemark !
The second one comes off the left hand side of a gyro gunsight
Could this be converted war surplus? I can’t see the expected screws holding the dial face on so I wonder if it is stuck on top of the original dial face.
The logo under the pointer may give a clue.
Haha I didn’t spot that – the pilot must have selected Economy Mode.
That sounds like a nice project – mainly familiar instruments arranged in a fun way!
ain’t that the truth
Awesome! and complete with rudder pedals
yep :/
