Wonder if they had a Norden bomb site on board…

The ‘bombadier’ opened the side door, up turned a binbag full of poppies and waggled it furiously!

How would the British protect their landing force now there are no Sea Harriers?

I’ve seen several pics of GR9s on UK carriers, was the main focus of the 9 upgrade to make it more Navy friendly?

And I thought the Airbus A380 was the worlds first double decker plane!

There is simply no noise like it!

Has anybody ever taken a Merlin and mounted it in a car (or similer)?

How incompetent of Matthew !! So how much longer do you have to wait ?

I phoned up originally at 1045 Sunday and the breakdown company arrived at 1245 today, Monday.

That’s 26 hours by my reckoning.

The breakdown company that came are based 30 miles from me so that means they ‘rushed’ to my aid at 1.15mph. 😮

    For goodness sake!

I thought the whole purpose of airdropped munitions was to cause injury, harm and/or destruction.

How is it different that a person is killed by a 1000lb bomb dropped years ago that has remained unexploded until they came along and tried to move it?

Isn’t that how CBU ‘landmines’ work? Admittedly smaller calibre but they can remain unexploded for as long as larger bombs.

Maybe this is why the government is cutting back on the armed forces, they might hurt somebody.

War hurts, sometimes not always the intended recipiant but that is war.

Part of the deal, although everyone will deny it until it is officially made, will most likely be that Argentina will pay for this with not just money but also food, which they have plenty of.

If Argentina is smart they should hold off on any purchase for now and maybe join the Russian/Indian 5th Gen MiG fighter development, which will probably put it more into the right weight class for Argentina. Even if they only buy 20 or so, it would still be better than the 60 (or whatever number they currently have) of old jets.

Maybe Argentina can get ahead of the curve again, like in the 40’s-early 70’s, instead of continually playing catch-up by buying second hand equipment. Back in the days Argentina bought some good equipment, the FAL/MAG rifle & machinegun, the Mirages and Super Etendards when they were new, the TAM tank, the MEKO ships….etc. Better to have a small number of new and modern equipment than a larger number of second rate stuff.

But would President Blair want to risk British soldiers lives in a conflict with only British interests to recapture British territory that America has no interest in?

If in some way Bin Laden and Afghanistan could be made responsible for taking the Falklands….. :p

Why on earth does the Museum Of (British) Army Flying have/need to have a Huey Cobra on display?

I can’t ever recall seeing one flying in Hampshire skies wearing RAF livery.

    EXCELLENT!

Whilst I love Time Teams olde worled excavations more modern stuff can be equally as interesting when they dig it all up. I can remember several years ago when they dug up the remains of a WW2 B17 bomber that had crashed, easily one of their better digs of the year in my opinion.

JayKay, seeing the two Buccs in your photos with the Shell badge on the intakes makes it look like they are rally cars!

…but with ever decreasing defence budgets how long before all frontline RAF aircraft have advertising. As well as the Shell Buccaneer what about…

    Texaco Tornado?

    Total Typhoon?

    Pace Puma?

    Jet Fuels Jaguar?

    Q8 Chinook?

    Save Fuels Sea King?

    Deans Dominie?

    And my favourite,

    Cyma Chipmunk!

The only remaining Chipmunk still in service with the Raf is used to give tail dragger experience to future BBMF pilots.
