Also WP840 if you just put the link to the picture on here next time then we’ll all be able to see the pictures and nobody will get upset. Then hopefully we could have some more discussion on this event and hopefully some more pics. 🙂
That sounds like a brilliant idea DGH, voila….
What a day at Boscombe it was on Wednesday!
At lunchtime a Hercules flew over my house low (<500 ft) with Harvard KF183 10 metres off the port wing.
An hour later 2 black Hawks did a high speed flypast down the main runway in close formation and 5 minutes later I saw the Hercules flying approximately 1 mile north heading west-east.
Several times during the day I noticed a Grob Tutor from the Southampton UAS doing circuits
It was actually this months AFM (after checking web).
It wouldn’t suprise me though if 2008 will be the date of the final F117 being retired from service with the earlier ones going now.
Coach, I’m sure I saw on a recent magazine cover (Airforces Monthly) that the first F117s were being removed from service sometime this month.
Here we go again!! 😡 As you’ve been told many times before, the Internet is for sharing and transferring photos from one site to a discussion forum is educational and hardly commercial exploitation nor publishing for gain so there is no ‘copyright’ involved!
It was me who posted the pictures from Boscombe Down 1990 taken from Airliners.net . What Albert Ross has said (above) is the reason why I didn’t contact each copyright owner before reproducing the pictures on this thread.
As Albert said in his next post 31 minutes later,
What a pathetic sad world we live in.
DeanK, where did you used to work?
In case you hadn’t guessed, I don’t have a clue!
Ha27, I put the three serial numbers into Google but was only able to find this about RA 76753;
Il-76MD (`Candid-B’): Military version; generally as Il-76M but with improvements of Il-76TD. One (RA-76753) operated as flying laboratory.
Personally I think that as the F117 is starting to be withdrawn from service its replacement (Aurora or whatever) is already in service in some top secret units.
As has already been said the F117 was in service 10 years before it was first shown to the world so that means the F118(?) could have been in service since the mid ’90s and the Aurora currently being designed won’t fly until 2015!
If what has been said on one of the other Key Publishing threads is taken into account the ‘F118’ can never be shown to the public 😉
What a noise!
About 13 years ago I attended a military firepower demonstration and was treated to the destruction of many scrapped tanks etc by rockets, bombs and other tanks.
The best part of the whole day was when an A-10 came in over our heads and destroyed a tank using its awesome cannon.
The noise that it made was beyond belief.
Think of a pneumatic drill.
Double the volume.
And again and you are somewhere close.
Wow! 😮
Don’t worry, I’ll get my coat… 😮
I do believe they have been testing aircraft cloaking devices at Boscombe Down.
I say ‘believe’ for, well, obvious reasons :p
sob sob 🙁
Here she is in all her glory…
I’m starting to drool!!! :p
