You are aware that the typical configuration of every Tornado who have delivered Storm Shadows in Iraq and Lybia was with two massive “Hidenburg” external´s (2250 litre each, thats more than the two external´s, 1000 L, of the Typhoon) and the Adla Rafale´s have been carrying two or three 2000 L´s external´s.
The fact that BAE has just picked up the CFT work left a decade ago is almost certainly a direct consequence of the SShadow integration job.Cheers
I remember seeing on tv the desert pink Tornado GR1s arriving in Saudi carrying grey F3 Hindenburg tanks. I don’t know if any grey tanks were needed on combat sorties during The Gulf War.
The Mosquito could carry the same bomb-load as a B17 and even carry the large ‘Cookies’.
Wow, I never knew this! I thought the Mosquito was an (ultra) light bomber, really more a strike aircraft.
This same question came up in the other monthly magazine a while ago and was answered. Trouble is I can’t recall the answer.
As the most manoeuvrable aircraft are the most inherently unstable I expect it is to do with trim.
According to the museums website a date hasn’t yet been finalised.
Oh, and I was joking about Russel Brand as Pike.
Daniel Radcliffe as Pike?
I hate to say this guys but it’s been there at least 4 years, I see it every day from my house.
Yesterday, saw the Beech Staggerwing fying North over Salisbury. Looked like the beautiful yellow one owned (still?) by TFC

I saw it too whilst visiting Cholderton Rare Breeds Farm at about 12.50.
Does anybody know if there is a Bulldog flying in the modern black / yellow training scheme ? I thought I saw one going into Turweston yesterday.
At first I thought ‘yes’ when I found this but then I noticed American reg. http://www.warbirdalley.com/images/bulldog-N689BD.jpg
They were ZA684 & ZA713 IIRC.
Thanks 🙂

Were the D Day stripes added to aircraft in the hours before D Day in a hurry so’s as not to give the Germans any idea something big was about to happen?
I passed two Chinook fusalages on the back of a couple of trucks this afternoon heading north on A34 (if my memory serves). I tried to get serials but as passing on opposite carriageway at 80 I couldn’t read them clearly.
Yesterday near Chichester, I certainly did a double take when I drove in to this industrial park!
I was thinking the X-47
16.00 for about 20 minutes I saw a Puma and a Merlin flying around Abingdon at only about 1000ft.
