I saw a Puma on the back of an artic coming off the A303 and heading towards Boscombe Down this evening about 18.30ish, I couldn’t quite read the serial though 🙁
And back again this morning. Hung around doing aeros long enough for me to get a piccie. 🙂

I saw a red Chipmunk a few days ago (can’t remember where, sorry) flying over but with large white lightening flashes on the underside of each wing.
Is the Chipmunk BCSL ex military and if so what was it’s serial number?
I’m sure the professionals will be along shortly with todays aerial visitors to the museum, so i’ll just add a pic of another impressive visitor – this time to the carpark. 1968 reg Lincoln Continental 😎

Strangely it makes all of the other cars look out of place not the other way round!
Is that a case of Aeronautical Tourettes, old chap?
There wasn’t one present when I got there mid afternoon, WP (I had to cook dinner and do the washing up). Incidently, Chippies and I are the same age, although most of them are in better condition than I.
American types fly-in at Panshanger this coming Sunday, 7th.July.
.
I’ve set up a charity called “Tourette’s Welfare And Treatment”.
All I need is an acronym, and I’m good to go!
Apart from the three SAAB T-17 Supporter’s of the Royal Danish Air Force, a BBMF Chipmunk flew in and parked up at ARCo and a desert camouflage Auster 5 paid a visit and parked by the control tower.

How is Memphis Belle looked upon by Americans on the US airshow scene? In this country she is very well received as she gained her fame helping us defeat the Germans and stopping us becoming a part of the fatherland but is she as popular back (in her) home?
Are there any aircraft who could raise their undercarriage after a belly landing and then get wheeled in to the workshops or aren’t u/c legs that strong?
Chipmunk!
Saw a Merlin Helicopter at tree top height about 9:30, out of fort Halstead (nr Chelsfield) I think. So low I could see the pilot!
I saw a Merlin at about 3-4000 foot between Abingdon and Oxford this morning and about lunch time, couldn’t tell if it was the same aircraft.
A slightly strange question regarding the B-17, how was it decided which side would represent which aircraft (Sally B/Memphis Belle)?
Can anybody tell me what I saw at 18.15 this evening?
Heading north flying about a mile east of Boscombe was a helicopter but only saw silhouette, it had a rounded front end, high rotor blades and the tailboom was high on the rear fusalage with a plain vertical tail.
A couple of days ago the BBMF Lancaster flew a couple of low circuits at Boscombe Down before heading off low in the direction of Newbury / London.
Can smaller AIM-9s be carried in the under-fusalage recessed bays, or any other missiles?
I’m sure someone said ASRAAM. XD
Has anyone seen any images of RSAF Tornado carrying a significant weapons load? I’m only came across some showing a RSAF Tornado with a couple of ALARMs and Sidewinders on the drop tank pylons… I’m beginning to think if the RSAF carry anything on their Tornados.
