Did the RAF Mosquito need a fighter escort?
Any Hurricanes? You can never have too many!
Why were the .303s collected but not the 20mm?
I’ve seen quite a bit this afternoon. Shortly after lunch as I was driving past Sutton Scotney I saw a Spitfire parked up, is this the same one I saw on the 21st June? A couple of hours later I went for a walk around Boscombe Down. First aircraft I saw was the yellow fuselage minus tail assemble and rotors of an old rescue Sea King near the end of runway 05 and a few moments after that I saw a Merlin on the pan outside rotary wing. A few minutes after this a Grob Tutor from the Southampton UAS flew over, a minute later a blue Quinetiq Gazelle also flew in and then a couple of minutes later seemingly out of nowhere an A400M landed. 10 minutes later I heard a jet aircraft taking of at the other end of the runway and could just make out it was an RJ as it climbed away and finally a few minutes later the A400M followed it.
several months ago I visited Gilbert Whites House with my family and was enthralled by the Lawrence Oates exhibition there. For fathers day I received this book from my son and I started reading it the other night.
What fast jet flew over Boscombe Down this morning? I couldn’t get out to have a look quick enough.
With the 2 RAFM sites could the aircraft be split so the first 50 years is at Hendon with the second 50 at Cosford?
This afternoon at 1740 I saw two biplanes, one white one green/camo heading south south west over the A303 at Wincanton.
Which Spitfire did I spot parked up at Sutton Scotney this morning? It had yellow leading edges if people need a clue.
Not quite a spotted but I heard a very distinctive growl outside certain it was a Spitfire but I just missed it. I ran inside and checked on flightradar24 and sure enough PR.XIX PS915 had flown down from Conningsby, turned and is currently 19.59 overflying Didcot.
About half an hour ago a V22 came in to land at Boscombe Down and a fast jet has just flown by at speed, I didn’t see it but it sounded quite low.
I found a picture of the mock up.

Is this the Spitfire the McGregors flew in the RAF100 programme?
Yes, having a proper look I can see the Spitfire canopy is larger than the Sea Fury.
How similar to the Spitfire canopy is the Sea Fury canopy? Are they interchangeable?
