Would the Defiant have become a much better fighter during WW2 if it had some forward facing guns fitted in the wings?

Maybe this year I’ll get to see her fly close up!
I wonder how long before the RAF consists solely of an emergency line to Barack Obama!
When it comes to cars Iād say (in the vast majority of cases) that ability is long gone!
I live about half-a-mile from a ford that regularly floods and what really surprises me is the number of four-by-four drivers that will not drive through it…
…even when there is only six-inches of water across the road. What did they buy a bloody four-by-four for?
To take their kids to school of course!

While we’re mentioning the Gnat, from the movie Hot Shots:
Also the deadly MiG28 if my memory serves. :p
Would any part of this decision by the US have been influenced by the MoD flying 2 at Boscombe for around 6 months (I think)?
I’m half way through a box set of 7 Spike Milligan books, they started off well but the current book seems to be a constant stream of jokes written by an 8 year old. I’m really not sure if I’ll even finish this one never mind read any of the remaining 3 books.

I have always liked the old red and white scheme applied to the RAF training aircraft, much nicer than the black applied to Hawks and Tucanos and the horrible yellow scheme used on AAC Fireflys.
I remember various trips in the late 70’s with 5aef Cambridge including the Husky also Chippie Air Experience from Manston and Coningsby.I always chuckle when i recall that when your Irvin Chute was on correctly you wadelled out to the aircraft like something from Planet Of The Apes!
It always seemed much worse for me as I was a short little so and so, not breaking 5ft until I was 16 and had left school! š®
My F3822 shows Chipmunks, WP840 (obviously) 22/6/91, 7/10/91 and 21/6/92, WK630 20/10/91 and 24/9/95, WP920 28/3/93 and WD373 24/3/96 as all my flights with 2 AEF at Hurn. I did 2 flights with 1 AEF at Manston in Chipmunks WK554 24/8/92 and WP855 28/8/92 meaning I flew 222 minutes in Chipmunks before they were retired from RAF/ATC service.
I flew twice in Bulldogs with 2 AEF but from Boscombe Down in XX705 8/2/97 and XX549 22/3/97 with my two longest flights at 35 and 40 minutes, interestingly my last 3 AEF flights were all with the same pilot.

I don’t think I’ll be able to get to any airshows this year (again!) but I’m hoping to at least have a day with our little ‘un for his first ever trip to an aviation museum at Middle Wallop.
I think firstly the B52 followed by the Nimrod. Structurally these aircraft are from several generations ago. They seem to think if they keep on improving the electronics etc inside the aircraft that it will gloss over this.
Did any whole aircraft appear in Saving Private Ryan or where they mock ups?
