The RAF and RN are just support services for the army.
In GW1 the RAF (along with USAAF etc) destroyed most of the Iraqi land forces making things much easier for the Armies involved and no doubt saved thousands of allied soldiers from being killed.
4 flying Hurricanes, AMAZING!
😀
Brize Norton
Cheers!
Hercules doing circuits and bumps. Not something I’ve seen at Leeming before…
Where are the Hercules going when they shut Lynham?
A combination of two companies, Royal Mail and In Car Stereos who operate as Car Stereos 4u.
In October last year I bought a stereo from Car Stereos 4u (£79.99 + £7.99 p&p) and it worked for 8 months but one day the front fell off. I contacted CS4u and they said to return it and it would be fixed or replaced so I sent it off but as it was broken I didn’t send it recorded as technically it wasn’t worth much at all.
After not hearing from CS4u for 6 weeks I phoned them up and after checking they said they hadn’t received the stereo so I contacted Royal Mail and started the lost parcel procedure.
This morning I got a letter from RM telling me CS4u have been asked to write a letter confirming non receipt of good but have failed to do so. RM consider this failure as indication the goods have been received and will not take the matter further leaving me £87.98 + £6.99 return postage out of pocket! 😡

The Met Office!
Accorcing to the weather forecasts we saw yesterday and all we’ve seen today it was going to be raining from about 5 this morning until gone 1 so it was decided we couldn’t take our little ‘un for a day out anywhere.
Not a single drop of rain has (yet?) fallen meaning we’ve been stuck indoors getting under each others feet. There’s sod all to do in the tiny village we have the misfortune of living in and nowhere within an hours drive to visit we haven’t already been to recently that we could go to this afternoon.

I can’t find the quote, but earlier in either this thread or a related one someone explained away the presence of the UK exchange pilots flying F/A-18s with the US Navy and Marines in the context of a F-35B purchase as giving them experience of flying a supersonic strike aircraft, if that was the case, why not simply have them fly Typhoons or (whilst we still have them) Tornado GR Mks here in the UK? After all if they are Harrier vets they’ve already had experience of rolling take offs from a carrier equipped with a ski jump and I imagine it would be cheaper.
My thoughts exactly!
Darn, I missed it! I’ve always loved watching (more hearing) ‘183 when she’s flying around.
Maybe I’ll see her next time….. :p
Realistically, will there ever be an effective combat aircraft with true VTOL capabilities that can carry a full operational payload?
it never ceases to amaze me the length some people will go to to maligne the F35. Some of it is utterly irrational, and there are so many reasons….
having said that i understand why the guys on the PAK-FA thread are so friendly  . They love an aircraft that almost everybody else is currently underwhelmed by….
For the record I am pro-F35, I just question the way some information is displayed sometimes thats all:)
My views on the F35 are quite simply put, I just don’t know!
In the 90s when ideas and plans for the JSF started getting made public they showed an aircraft that was some way ahead of (then) current Russian/Warpac aircraft. Today though it seems to be on the receiving end of a number of criticisms from people who seem to be in the know when compared with its contemporaries which leaves me wondering have LM really fallen so far short?
Thanks Jonesy – that kinda reinforced my point – if the UK did not bail back when the F-35B was overweight they are hardly going to bail now over a few dodgy actuators. It would be nice if Liam Fox does declare soon what is happening with UK’s choice for JSA to give the poor journo’s a break from speculating over moves to CATOBAR or F/A-18 purchases.
Just noticed… the Viggen is missing from the line-up. Any particular reason for that?
This answers my earlier question, yes there was at least one aircraft missing (or at least not photographed).
Were there any aircraft from Swedens 100 year flying history that weren’t there? 😮
