Today in Basingstoke as we were sat down feeding our 3 month old son Jack an old man came over and said that Jack “was the most valuable thing he has seen all day”.
Not only do we have people telling us (him!) how handsome he is but now how valuable he is, I think we’ll soon find it difficult to get Jack’s head out of the front door! ;-p
    That made my day 😀

my new 3 piece arrived, Cruella’s in the (slightly damp) garage…… not like she wasn’t told mine was coming.

Sept 1st now set as “d-day”……:cool:

Having followed the saga/ordeal* on here I dare say you will be glad after this is finished!

Unable to pull into a layby to answer a mobile, due to the number of advertising trailers spread up and down it.

It can’t be legal, can it?

On a similer note, it annoys the hell out of me when I pull into a service station on motorways in my truck for a tacho break but can’t have one because half of the truck parking bays have cars parked in them because it is often (very) slightly closer to the cafes and resturants than the car bays. 😡

In 1900-and -frozen -to death,Pontius was learning to fly,and having just gone solo at B-D ,after shutting-down and laying on the grass after the leg-trembling sortie in the mighty Beast, a painter-and decorator approached Him,to say that the aircraft was going in for Servicing and a repaint, but had forgotten what colour it was to be(he didn`t want his Line Manager to think ill of Ps and Ds ,so he thought he`d ask The Pilot).
As luck would have it,the clouds parted and Pontius, who was still deafened after an hour grinding around the Circuit at 2200 RPM, as were the good Folk of Amesbury, jumped up with Joy pointing upwards and yelling ” Yellow Sun,” as it now appeared in the Cerulean Heavens.. The P and D ,leaped up and down as well,as The Great One had spoken to him,so he rushed off to get on with his scraping and stripping, priming and painting…..and the rest is history….!!

The aircraft is not `owned` by ETPS,it is only loaned ,so that Fighter-jocks can try flying a real aeroplane…… Pon…errr Sycamore..

Wow, I always knew BD was considered quite important to the RAF but I never knew it was as important to ‘him’ as well! 😮

    How about Silent Vulcan??

I heard anecdotally that they were very stealthy anyway – range could be greatly extended and RCS reduced through new materials etc

Two words I never thought it possible to have in the same sentance, silent, Vulcan!;)

that’s two engines and two props (and Dornier did the same – only closer mount – on the Do-18 flying boat)

    😮

thanks A225HVY. What about two props not located on the same spot? Like perhaps with a gear arrangement..?

The Dornier Do335 springs to mind but looking on t’internet shows up quite a few mil and civ.

On more serious but definitely more flawed tack (as I expose my lack of understanding for a) requirements for RCS and b) improving aerodynamics)

Silent Harrier – A Harrier II with increased use of composites, quadraplex fly by wire, AESA radar, blended intakes, improved Pegasus engine, refined aerodynamics so that it can top out M1 with A2A load out of 4 AMRAAM and two ASRAAM, and finally improved nozzle system and other refinements to improve IR signature.

Designed as a cheaper alternative to the F-35B mostly brought by RN and hailed a success by Boeing 🙂 despite low sales as Boeing never get the large order needed to get the flyaway cost down to be significantly lower than the F-35B. When it is retired in 2040 by the RN hailed as a classic which punched above it weight during numerous low level conflicts

Why wasn’t anything like this ever thought of by BAe 10 years ago?

Interesting – but I suppose if the F/A-18 E/F was in RN service it would have a different name like FRS18 Sea Hornet?!?

    Possibly Sea Hornet FRS18?
