The problem is that defense procurment is based very little on technical and economical merit, but on international or domestic politics. The worst kind of politics, the one there you pay for political support from the region or country the gadgets are produced in.

Politics has ruined many a good aircraft project.

    (cough) TSR-2

    Ahem

why would a 2 seat f-22 be needed to replace the f117 and f15?

i think the RN won’t have F-35 on carriers until 2017, if there are carriers and i doubt the harriers will still be in operation then.

I think defence spending has become a joke, so much equipment now coming online is for a threat that went 15 years ago, no one is being held accountable for the overspends and **** ups, prices are ridiculous and machines aren’t in line with current missions.

I think we’re all fans of high tech military equipment, we all have our particular favourites, but i think any of us that really care to think about it can’thelp but laugh at defence spending

In several of the roles the F15 carries out (cas being one) the wso uses the second seat meaning the pilot can concentrate on keeping the aircraft safe.

I have not read all the way through this thread but I guess the idea of coming out of the house with a damn great dog has already been suggested.

We’ve got two very loud dogs so I think the cat is being very brave!

And yes, it has already been suggested! :p

How long after the attack was it before Pearl Harbour had been completely repaired?

    LOL.

Put a litterbox to where the cat usually poo. If that didn’t work, I’ll have to establish a good neighborhood relationship with the cat’s owner so they could do something about this problem.

Several weeks ago I came out to go shopping and next doors cat was hiding underneath my car with neighbour out also. She made a joke about cat always hiding under cars to which I remarked I hope he gets out of the way soon, her reply was a chuckle.

Should I start leaving treats just in front of my cars tyres in the hope of sorting this problem out for good?

Why not use the venerable Chipmunk? The beautiful noise of 9 Gipsy Majors in formation would make every display truly unforgettable!
We already that the Chipmunk suits the colour red courtesy of Prince Charles’!

I remember during GW1 seeing desert cammed Tornado GR1s flying with large grey tanks from F3s, do any GR4s fly with large F3 tanks or do they generally only use the smaller tanks?

I think a good option to replace the GR4 would be the Su-34. This would be a good option also for Italy and Germany – will it ever happen, obviously never. Imagine a Flanker in RAF colours.

Why can India operate Su-30, Migs and Bears together with Jaguar(Shamsher), Sea Harrier and Mirage. They use equipment from the good and bad guys!

There are a couple of Mi-8/mi-17 Hips at Boscombe Down painted in ETPS ‘raspberry ripple’ colour scheme.
