RAF:
Attack- Tornado GR4, Harrier GR9, Buccaneer
Fighter- F4 Phantom
Interceptor- Tornado, Lightning (with extra missile pylons!)
Cargo- C-17, C-130
Helicopter- CH-47, Sea King
Electronic- E-3D
Tanker- VC-10
Reconnaissance- Nimrod, Tornado GR4A
Bomber- HP Victor, Vulcan
I realise some people might say in a fantasy RAF why not the TSR-2? As it never entered service non of its systems or capability was proven.

XE601 was never used by the ETPS, it spent all of it’s life IIRC with A sqn and later fast jet Sqn of A&AEE, so it’s scheme was a little bit of a one off. Here’s a more side on view of XE601
And an ETPS F6 in the period ETPS scheme – XF375 at IAT76
Just for fun here’s 601 rippled…
I always wondered why ‘601 had a slightly different Raspberry Ripple paint scheme than all of the ETPS aircraft and now, at last, I have the answer!
Another box ticked off my things to know before I die sheet, now back to the TSR2… :p
On the drop tank isue, can anyone produce some pic with a Su-27 with droptanks.
I know its rare, but there must be something out there.
thanks.
I’ve just looked at more than 600 photos of Su-27s on airliners.net and not found one with drop tanks! 🙁

Did anybody here fly as a cadet in WK518 or WG486 before they became the BBMF tail dragger trainers?
Well, if there are extra stores pylons, someone is always going to want to fly a little farther and hang some tanks on the plane.
Why couldn’t an aircraft be designed with the capability to have fuel tanks added to the structure rather than hung on pylons?
For example, on the Russian MiG29 a box could be positioned between the 2 engine nacelles containing fuel freeing up pylons.
Unfortunately I can’t immediately think of any western aircraft that could use this idea.

1. Sopwith Camel, a superlative fighter during WW1.
2. Hurricane, the workhorse that won the Battle Of Britain.
3. Lightning, the only all British Mach 2 fighter ever built and many aspects of its performance outperform many modern aircraft.
4. Harrier, a truly original and very capable aircraft design.
5. Tornado, a true balls out low level strike aircraft.
If the TSR2 had ever been in service then this aircraft would have replaced the Lightning in my top 5.
Does anybody have any experience using this companies height restriction add on?

Would this be a good purchase for my Garmin Nuvi 265w?

Wiki says how on ‘one occasion he flew his P-51 Mustang in slow “figures of eight” above a target obscured by low cloud, to act as a bomb-aiming mark for his squadron.’ Interesting fellow… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonard_Cheshire
Can’t say that anymore 😉 (It can carry three of them – 600 gallons each)
Oh, does that mean I’ll have to edit my original post?
Ahem, up until about 2 minutes ago, the only jet I can think of that I have never seen with external tanks is the American A10 Thunderbolt II.
Better?
😀
Are there any modern jet fighters that don’t ever/rarely use drop tanks?
I have always wondered why aircraft aren’t designed from the offset with the capability to carry sufficient fuel internally thus freeing up pylons enabling it to carry more stores.

What about putting some of ours dogs poo on the edge of my drive, would that stop the cat?
