I managed to find a list of the goofs in the film, it is quite funny to watch the film with this list and tear it to pieces!

The “Ass-ender”; Yes, that contraption is so ugly it could make people blind.

    TSR?
I realise what the lettering indicates on modern aircraft, GR Ground attack Reconnaissance, F Fighter, T Trainer, etc. I assume the SR in the TSR2 stood for Strike Reconnaissance but what did the T stand for as I’m sure it can’t have stood for Trainer and I’m surprised it has two meanings.

Checking in Daz, I used to love watching this as a kid in the 80s but as
BSG-75 has said it’s so bad that whenever I’ve watched an episode more recently I can’t believe I used to watch it at all! 😮

During the Falklands war, another asset available to both sides, was CH-47.

Can anybody think of any other wars us Brits were involved in fighting against our own aircraft? There must almost certainly be ones with the Americans fighting US equipment.

A Turkey – Greece War would be ideal for this 🙂 Ukraine vs Russia another 🙂 U.S vs Pakistan 🙂

This one would be a very interesting exchange…! 😮

    The best song ever written,

    Is this the real life-
    Is this just fantasy-
    Caught in a landslide-
    No escape from reality-
    Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see-
Im just a poor boy,i need no sympathy-
    Because Im easy come,easy go,
    A little high,little low,
Anyway the wind blows, doesnt really matter to me,
    To me

    Mama,just killed a man,
Put a gun against his head,
    Pulled my trigger,now hes dead,
    Mama,life had just begun,
But now Ive gone and thrown it all away-
    Mama ooo,
Didnt mean to make you cry-
If Im not back again this time tomorrow-
Carry on,carry on,as if nothing really matters-

    Too late,my time has come,
    Sends shivers down my spine-
    Bodys aching all the time,
    Goodbye everybody-Ive got to go-
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth-
Mama ooo- (any way the wind blows)
    I dont want to die,
I sometimes wish Id never been born at all-

I see a little silhouetto of a man,
Scaramouche, scaramouche will you do the fandango-
Thunderbolt and lightning-very very frightening me-
    Galileo,galileo,
    Galileo galileo
    Galileo figaro-magnifico-
But Im just a poor boy and nobody loves me-
Hes just a poor boy from a poor family-
Spare him his life from this monstrosity-
Easy come easy go-,will you let me go-
Bismillah! no-,we will not let you go-let him go-
Bismillah! we will not let you go-let him go
Bismillah! we will not let you go-let me go
Will not let you go-let me go
Will not let you go let me go
    No,no,no,no,no,no,no-
Mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let me go-
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me,for me,for me-

So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye-
So you think you can love me and leave me to die-
Oh baby-cant do this to me baby-
Just gotta get out-just gotta get right outta here-

    Nothing really matters,
    Anyone can see,
Nothing really matters-,nothing really matters to me,

    Any way the wind blows….

I’ve just finished Sabre Squadron by Cameron Spence and started reading yesterday Tuesdays War by David Fiddimore. Sabre Squadron was an excellent book about an SAS vehicle patrol during the Gulf War and so far Tuesdays War is looking like a very good book too.

About 10 years ago whilst working for a security firm at the Lloyds/TSB offices in Andover I regularly witnessed a weird occurrence. At 10pm every night the sight was checked to be completely empty, locked up and all alarms set, at 11.30pm the light in one room came on.
Upon enquiring as to why one of the other guards said that when the sight was under construction about 7 years earlier a young child was killed on the construction sight where the room is at 1130 one evening. I never had a problem entering that room before or since just a great curiosity to find out exactly what happened.

That’s because there ARE no Su-27s with drop tanks – they are not able to carry drop tanks.

The only Su-27 that was configured for drop tanks was a one-off project called Su-27SMK.

It had the ability to carry two 2,000ltr tanks on the wing pylons – but the project never came to fruition.

The only Flanker currently able to carry drop tanks is the Su-34 – and it has been photographed with tanks on delivery to Lipetsk.

I have just tried to find a photo – but failed – but there are photos out there – carrying a Su-24 tank on the centreline station IIRC

The new Su-35 also has provision for drop tanks – but has not yet been seen with them fitted.

So, the only Flanker (actually a Fullback) to be photographed with tanks is the Su-34.

    Ken

Cheers Ken, I never knew this. You live and learn as they say… 😎
