The choppers seem to be victims of RPG attacks rather than MANPADs, to this end the Iraqis must have one hell of an aim or the pilots are getting too complacant.

As far as attrition, its low when compared to the number of operations being undertaken on a weekly basis.

The Black Hawk was built to survive small arms fire so I guess the Iraqis have some heavy cali’ weapons around places like Tikrit, perhaps mounted on pick up trucks.

It’s great when people on this forum look at this air force and start babbling about how they should get this that and the other butv realistically this nation will only do things like what has been mentioned on the above post and if lucky purchase Fulcrums or more Fishbeds. Sad state of affairs really.

A recording of a whale song lasting three hours sung by an Orca (Killer Whale) in 1985 and analysed at Caltec was found to contain 3 million seperate pieces of information (how did they know what the whale was saying?)

T-Rex, the terror of the dino age is now believed to have been a scavenger and not a predator

The Great White Shark has been found (found as in it tried to eat someone) in Antartic waters dispite common belief that it would die in cold water

Squid attacks are believed to account for more diver disapperances than shark attacks per year

In 1965 Aussie fishermen reported a sighting of a large shark believed to have been Megalodon measuring roughly 300ft in length and 60ft in width off the Northern Territories

How does the IRST on the Fulcrum and Flanker work? Is it directed via radar or does it automatically pick up heat signatures? I know the idea behind the IRST was incase of radar jamming (correct?) but is IRST more effective in terms of combat than radar (ie. can the IRST be jammed more easily than radar)?

Good point, should have realised that after the Syrian Su-27 deal which had everyone thinking Syria had Flankers which turned out to be just hard sales tactics by Sukhoi.
Thanks for reminding me not to jump to conclusions TJ.
However I did like the Indonesian Su-27 photo’s, they show off the full plane for once, now I know what my model is meant to look like 😉 .

Hey, we Bulgarians can kick a** when we want too!
My choice would be a dozen Raptors for A/C
    Six An-32s for tactical transport
Two or three IL-76s for long haul
Two A-50 Midas fitted with Shmel for AWACS
    Ten UH-60 for transport
Twenty or so Ka-52 for attack
