From afar! Anyone around on Thursday approx 16.00 ? From a viewpoint between Fowlmere and Melbourn spotted an aircraft over Duxford which then headed low WNW? Just didn’t look like a regular ?

    Back to 1940

You could have been forgiven for thinking that you had stepped into a Battle of Britain film set this morning as columns of thick dust and smoke rose from fields around Duxford. No, not downed aircraft but the ‘discharge’ from your modern day combine harvester which presumably now does most of the processing internally and discharges the ‘waste’ in huge clouds. I’m sure small busineses would be penalised for similar effluent!
Still, plenty of fun and games on the airfield. The repositioning of Ju 52 was pure Dad’s Army! Smashing photos of the move elsewhere.

    Its still sad!

While I appreciate the patchy provenance and condition it is still sad to see these aircraft departing, especially the Casa 2.111. As a schoolboy I remember the Battle of Britiain film 111s and other planes(?) flying into Duxford over Great Chesterford one sunny afternoon in the summer of 1968, mainly in one group -quite a sight. Their presence that summer established a connection with the airfield that has always been special.
PS Perhaps there is a list somewhere of the flying aircraft involved in the Duxford filming?
