    Many thanks,

The part is from either WD714 or WD772 which collided 19/08/1952
I found no other parts with serials on.

    Mike,

    According to Air Britain LA100-LZ999

Hawker Hurricane LB956 was sent to ME (Middle East) and SOC 30.04.1945

I can find no mention in The Hawker Hurricane (Francis K Mason) but LB957 was with 34 Sqn.

Sorry I could find nothing else.

    regards

The large spring is definately a spike from a hay turner.

    Nick,

    On testing again,
You are right, the base is lead with alloy terminals surrounded in Bakelite.

    Silly question,

But is there an 80 OTU ORB?
I cannot find a trace on the National Archives web site, I can find 79 & 81 OTU but not 80!
Any ideas where the 80 OTU ORB might be held?

    regards

    Thanks for clearing that up,
Just when doing a simple ‘Google’ for P7360 the pictures are labelled as P7360 and the a/c in the pictures has the serial P7350.

Is there any further infomation regarding the exact site?

    regards

    It is alloy, not brass.

Here is an identical piece from a Defiant site

I have also found similar at a Beaufighter site

    Tony,

Barnstaple, North Devon makes more sense.
Having lived in Northumberland all my life I could not trace a Barstaple!

    thank you
