Thin about it.Finnair a European carrier with a mostly European fleet. And then taking delivery of a IL96 probably a big step back.
can u tell me as to how it will be a step backward, if at all?? ….. maybe politically …
IL-96-300 was brought down or for that matter every single Russian a/c by ICAO Stage III and that was a well though out one as that made sure not a single a/c be sold outside Russia and those who used them coudl not feel content cursing them …. and so was the case with the Tu-204 family untill the Egyptians made with with Rolls Royce engine and got the designation Tu-204-120 … now that The Russian engine makes have overcome the European obstace of Stage III and in the process of meeting the Stage IV, there need not be any fear among the operators of future buyers and definetely not a step backward if anyone buys them……. I think the EU need to have some sort of that DAMN NOISE CONTROL for the Automobiles and the constant racing thats goes around…… all these things prey much look like a double-standard and to just keep any compitition away more than anyhing else ….
and if at all the Finnish has selected it I persume it is with PW 2XXXX engine for which the IL-96 is certified with ….more over the PS-90A and the Salyut engines and if needed be there is the Samara NK-73 propfan engines which was to power the Il-106 (successor to Il-96)…… all these have have cleared the ICAO Stage III, if I am not wrong ….. so i don think it terribly incorrect to think that Finland would select a Russian a/c … but wud be happy to see the Il-96 getting some outside air …

Oh and forgot to tell that India won the match 2-0 in the friendship series, as usual the team was lacking the determination to put more goals though they got prtetty chances and was agrressive compared to the pakistani team. And this time around Rehan Butt was not in form as he was no where to be seen in the D circle.
And yeah the Sohaib got a standing ovation for his world Record number of goald surpassing the Duch guy at the start of the match – a well deserved one for that modest and humble guy from karachi.
But u guys don miss to watch the Doucmentary, but hopefull it wont be dull like the “Wings Of the Future” when all made it to watch and what we got to see was a few glimpses of the LCA and that Maroof Razz opeing his $hitty, ignorant and dull chat with the only thing that I cud find in him to have got into that programme being the middlesex that was accompanying his degree ….. a real ****y show to say the least, when all was so much enthusiastic to see or hear abt the first show abt the LCA.
Hi guys, came to tell u that HALF – AN – HOUR from now ……. “GLIMPSE OF IAF HISTROY” …… a documentary on IAF is to be shown on DD-1 at 23:00 hrs … 11.00 pm IST … so dont miss it. The repeat telecast of it is gonna be tomorrow at 9:00 am IST
there are very rare footages and saw a few WW-II footagesand guess Kargil too will be featured, and if possible that Atlantic ….. I guess and hope some one is recording too, unfortunately I don have any spare cassete at the moment.
Matt and others,
Let me tell u all that talk and the Bla Bla reporting abt the F-16 etc etc to is make a public outcry if an when MiGs are selected, coz by building up that tone of the ‘frontrunners’ ….. the ignorant and dumb Indian media baffoons wud be tye first to pull out there ‘grrrr8 finding’ to stall the deal or make the deal late, thats what this media dosages are all abt, hope u guys understand that.
The only two competants in this are the French Mirage and the MiG-29M1 …. and if u have noticed lately, the its the Irkut man thats gonna present the MiG-29M1 to the IAF ….. and that offereing is a joint Sukhoi MiG afair …… I wish the MiG-29s win the contract.
But then as said earlier, as far as I see, India is the last stop for the Mirages as I see no more market for them , so am pretty sad abt that too, but hope a small number of that too is made to keep the suqdron level to atleast 5.
But I want the MiG’s to win, hope IAF chooses that and not go the way the recent Air India airplanes when from the basket of Airbus to Boeing
tka man
Oh what i meant was can u redo the job on this one with a Blue one and also a three tone Tri-colour tone with Safforn-White-Green in place of the Red one that you see. And with that Air-India symbol at the front like u did it for the second one ….. hope I am clear this time .TY
