GBU-10s are dumb bombs unless you have a targeting pod. Otherwise its just another fanboy photoshop.

Might use a ground based designator, but usually flight boys don’t want ground huger to target for them

And the same goes for the Alenia website: nothing about a delivery to the RoAF…

Here some more pics of the Air Day at Otopeni were the C-27J was shown : http://romanian-spotters.forumer.ro/demonstratii-aeriene-2009-f41/baza-90-transport-aerian-gheorghe-banciulescu-19072009-ziua-portilor-deschise-t2367-25.htm

That;s because it was not accepted in service yet. It is a test plane and it belongs to Alenia and not RoAF.

    Where did you hear this?

There are countless pictures with various staff generals that do the studies for acquisition…
    It is like this:
The army do a study of acquisition
They propose it to MoD minister
    Minister push it to Government
    Then decision is made..

see you can work on 3 levels 🙂

BTW, speaking of corruption.. it has very broad legal terms. Recently Boeing offered free backseat rides to Danish decision makers on Super Hornet.. legally that is considered corruption since such a flight has a financial value.

Well same was done by SAAB also 🙂

New or used, it will be F 16 for Romania. And from US not from Israel. No chance for the swedish thing, even if they offer free…

    yea… Training + Weapons included.

I believe it reduced to less than 30 as the Euro grew stronger. Also the work was going to be done by Eurocopter at Oxford…not in Romania so where did that change come from.

Well that is partially in offset accords when Romania bought those 2 frigates…
Ans also IAR is the only facility in Europe qualified to overhaul Puma’s

That strategy will work just as well against the US.

In fact, the US has much more to lose, and there’ plenty of nukes to go around.

Have you ever been in US? Economic targets are spread around the country…

Depends on what you mean by “at the time”. For example the Magic II was integrated in 2003, Python III right from the start of the program (mid-90’s). Since the Lancer has an “open architecture” system, there is no problem to integrate AMRAAM, Derby, but there is:
    a. no money and
    b. no requirement

    Bingo …

MiG-21 Bison is definitely the most potent upgrade available. Compared to Elbit Lancer, it offers a big advantage in terms of BVR capability (read R-27 Alamo and R-77 Adder family). Other than that, Lancer C with ELTA EL/M-2032 radar is a respectable bird but AFAIK, it carries no BVR missiles which is a bit of a shame.

Is not the radar that doesn;t have BVR, is about RoAf who was not interested into buying BVR missiles. All missiles that where in stocks were WVR.

If you wage war on a regular basis, it gets cheaper to drop bombs from a LO aircraft.
If you seldom or never wage war, it gets cheaper to have a stock of stand-off missiles so you don’t have to hassle with SAM’s in the first place.
I also think its questionable to go within bombing range with double digit SAM’s with an F-35, you’d probably still need to still invest in a stock of stand-off missiles.

So basically you say … If you want a Airshow plane buy Grippen NG?

You guys should check actually cost of those Grippens at least in the Bids they lost… They are expensive…
