Just a bit of nostalgia.
Departing Heathrow.
On route to Stansted.
On Stand 42.
Gotta love the “Oldies”. 😀

Try selecting your starting position from this screen. Not entirely sure you start with a “Cold Cockpit” though.
Manston and America is knowhere near FRA 😉
But then an “East to West” flight over FRA wouldn’t have come from AMS or LHR either  , as Robert stated in his original post.
Never been personally, but I’m guessing B737’s and 757’s and others of similar size.
Jamie’s turn to post the next one then? 🙂
Or Tenthije, after all, he suggested Viscount first. 😉
Never really understood how Telescopic Ladders work.
You can imagine the “Laurel and Hardy” moment when you get to the top and the whole lot colapses back down to it’s folded up state. 😮
Just a Couple of Topical ones.

And…
Just to see if it would…
I think the Model Flight Dymamics are a little “Off”. 😀
NO the picture ISN’T rotated.

So what county is the Jet2 737 from? 😀
3 – Approach into Aberdeen during my Trial Flight. (Sorry about the mucky windscreen)
Tut Tut…
Shouldn’t you have been steering the airplane, instead of taking snaps? 😀
Oh god another NIMBY :p
Not at all Andrew.
I used to love nothing more than spotting from my own back garden. We also used to spend many a mis-spent hour at Heathrow.
Of course, that was in the days of VC-10’s, B707’s, Hs121’s and the BAC1-11’s and not forgetting, everybody’s nemsis, Concorde (Extra-ordinarily loud on reverse thrust when landing, or even Full Afterburn when taking off)
Not your extra quiet (by comparison) modern jet airliners.
It’s just that, sometimes, you can relate to the cries that are ever present from residents around major airports.
For most of the day, and indeed, evening you’d become immune to the traffic, but it always seemed to work out, that just as an interesting story came on the news, for example, a Bleedin’ 1-11 or Trident would fly over, rattling the mortar out from in between your bricks. 😀
The old RR Spey engines, for anyone who can remember them didn’t exactly have “Whisper-Mode”. 😮
Love to live on that street.
You’d love to live on that street for maybe, Oh! let’s see, about 10 mins. :p
I used to live quite close to Heathrow, and as much as I love aircraft, they really can be a pain in the Crack!.
Quite an impressive beast, but boy is it UGLY.
The B747 still looks nicer IMO, much more graceful. 🙂
And let’s not “Write Off” the 747 yet, don’t forget Boeing have more than 30 years headstart in the Super-Jumbo category.
Boeing fan… 😀
And for some reason I can’t seem to take the 747-400 off from Heathrow, even using the auto-pilot. I select the required altitude, and then put full throttle on once clearence is granted and the plane tries to take off but just stays sticking up in the air, but travels along the ground (if that makes any sense?)
Any help would be greatfully appreciated.
Are your Trim and Flaps set correctly?
You should be able to rotate the 744 EASILY from LHR.
3rd One Down, tells you all you need to know. 🙂
