    Anyway, the subject is messing with politics. Russia can’t afford to give up on Israeli pressures because if that’s the case, many countries will feel to have veto rights on Russian weapons sales.

    Russia’s Kazan aircraft plant to build next generation bomber

    Russia’s Kazan aircraft plant to build next generation bomber

    The Kazan aircraft maker will start manufacturing a new strategic bomber, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday.

    The plant will continue upgrading Tu-160 and Tu-22 long-range bombers and will then “start assembling a new-generation strategic bomber,” he said.

    He offered no indication of the new bomber’s specifications or exactly when production would start.

    Another Kazan-based enterprise – a helicopter plant – will start production of a new Mi-38 helicopter and continue making Mi-8, Ansat and Aktai helicopters that have already proved their worth, Putin also said.

    Russian assert, that:
    Is minimum achievable RCS for a fighter – 0.3 m2, because of features of a design.
    Therefore RCS F-22 0.3 – 0.5 m2
    RCS T-50 0.5 – 0.6 m2
    RCS F-35 0.5 – 0.6 m2
    RCS a cruise missile 0.1 m2
    RCS F-117 and ATA A-12 – 0.2 m2
    😉

    If these number are real, we have a problem. Sukhoi and LM may have different methods to compute the RCS but going from 0.0001 m2 (i.e. F-22) to 0.2 m2 is too much.
    May be these numbers reference an average RCS from all angles and 0.0001 m2 is just the frontal RCS for the F-22. In addition the Kh-101 RCS is claimed to be 0.01 m2. That’s should also be the frontal one. The Kh-101 is a huge CM and from above should have a much larger RCS.

    No F-15 or F-16 has ever been lost in Air combat.

    Well, after the “impresive” work of US forces in Afganisthan 😀 I think these figures are just worthless. Greetings from Osama :diablo:

    i would not call it like that, it is not a waste of resources, but it is not a dedicated fighter, it is a striker with enhanced self defence swing role, it can be used as a fighter but is not in the class of the F-22 or T-50

    That’s what a mean 😀

    … otherwise the F-35 would be a waste of resources. 😎

    No far from the reality. 😎

    But seriously

    F-119 @ 37,000lbs/16.8T;
    Izd.117 @ 33,000lbs/15T;
    PAK-FA stage 2 @ 35,273lbs-36,375lbs/16T-16.5T

    To estimate supercruise speed, it will be interesting to know data on dry power rather than wet power. Do you have them?

    Second overhaul for the oldes Delta-IV

    http://russianforces.org/blog/2010/08/project_667bdrm_submarines_beg.shtml

    Likely a move forced by the delay on the Bulava-Borei combo. So it seems that Delta-IV will live around 35 years.

    Sure they are. I’m talking about the possiblity of them ever being on a Kirov. We’ve been hearing for years how they’re going to be turned into some uber-starships yet AFAIK they’re still rusting by the pier.

    Granits are HUGE. If these are replaced by BrahMos and Kh-101, there will be a lot of place for them. About Kirov, well the plan until a year ago was to let the two older die and save and update Peter the Great and the Nakhimov. Now it seems that Ushakov and Lazarev will be also modernized. That’s seems to be a recent decision and the implementation will take years and lots of $$$. So, Russia see the Artic Sea as a near future source of conflicts.

    I missed the time when the S-duct become the Holly Grial of Stealth. Torquemada is blaming Sukhoi engineers on blasphemy-design because ignoring the Holly Grial . :p
