Time please ladies and gentlemen, this was a thread based on fact i pressume, so lets hope nothing else comes of it and that Martin succeeds.

I don’t think there is need for this comment. We are all entitled to our opinions, as confirmed by the moderators. I know Martin uses the forum but I don’t think there are any comments on this thread which are any different to discussions which would take place if it were another airline in the same situation, infact I think it is fair to say that the comments may have been toned down to reflect Martin’s use of this forum. There are a large selection of people on this forum that work in the industry and using this knowledge people have drawn various conclusions and opinions

I agree that we all wish Martin success, but it doesn’t take away that many threads come from fact and then the purpose of a forum is to allow people to express opinions based on these facts. You just have to look at how expressive people on this forum were when a new premium airline proposal was discussed on here only a couple of weeks ago…Alpha1 never got so much doubt expressed about it despite the fact that most examples of airlines such as Alpha1 have been unsuccesful. We don’t know the reasons for the delay, but I don’t think anybody has directly tried speculating on this, and we are all waiting for the facts to come forward.

On a side note, and with no offence to Martin, I am confused as to why he is now using a geocities website….I know a few of you work in IT, so I ask you guys, why use this website when he has a perfectly good one, and doesn’t he run a media company that does websites. What is the benefit of a geocities website?

Who says it’s a big problem? Maybe it is just a small problem. Your forgetting, this guy’s 19! Yes 19! I’ve never heard of a 19 year old starting up his own airline.

Now come on guys, like Grey Area says wish Martin the very best of luck! Good luck mate!

I know what you’re saying, but regardless of what the reason the delays will cause major issues in establishing a succesful carrier. Basically once passengers have been refunded they will be more sceptical about coming back for seconds, especially those who may have had to convince their employers to pay for a flight to replace a 2 hour road journey. Its a shame, but this is one of the problems that many new airlines that have stalled the beginning of flights have found.

I’ve just been back and read the whole thread on the pprune forum. People there seem to be a bit more honest. I have dealt with AirMed in the past, I’m sure their view is that they’ll take money from anywhere, but looks as though they’re distancing themselves from it.

No thats the upbeat kind of comment Martin deserves!
Not the “I told you so” attitude some of you are displaying here

Well, Martin chose to start a company in a very difficult industry, I’m sure he was aware of the pitfalls and problems before he went ahead. There have been quite a few similar airline start-ups to those of Martins over the years, with varying success, but nothing that I can see as majorly succesful.

I wasn’t saying ‘told you so’ just that I had doubts from the start about such a scheme. There is still every chance that Martin and Alpha will come bouncing back and be a mjor success….as I keep saying good luck Martin.

To quote a well known airline CEO:

“The way to make a small fortune in the airline industry you must start with a big fortune”…..Richard Branson

    Its difficult…all I’m saying.

Well, I have to agree with Andy a little bit. I think some people on here know that I express my views openly, precisely the purpose of a forum. I wish Martin luck, but was never hugely optomistic. Time will tell.

    Agreed

But even so, there is bound to be the odd ignorant know it all pax who thinks that its is a world stopping tragedy that his/her £30 flight has been re-directed or cancelled.

Well in all honesty the event may be of NO relevance to somebody who has paid for a flight regardless of what it cost. The funeral is one of those things which will mean so much to many, and so little to many, lets face it if you’re from a different faith then it is of no relevance. How many people on here pay a lot of attention to the annual Hajj Pilgrimage to Mecca (apart of course from all the unusual aircraft colours and visitors all over the place), yet more people turn up there each year than will eb in Rome today.

So in conclusion I don’t think that either airline could be blamed for the cancellations and so wouldn’t be expected to pay out. But it would be good customer service to establish the priority of passengers and make alternative arrangements where necessary. I’m suprised FR have made such an effort!!

Of course, if people flew with proper airlines they wouldn’t have to go to CIA anyway 😉
