From the rest of the thread, they produce enough slack-jawed dribbling as it is without doing anything more!

You must have flown from Great Sampford, then, but I’m blowed if I can put a name to the tale.

Two “do”s in one month – cor! Pity I missed all the most exciting ‘planes – nothing against the TwinPin, but…
Adrian
On Sunday I spotted the TwinPin over Oxford. I’d assumed, as there was also a Hawk displaying to the south of town, that it was the display at Abingdon. But the posters say that’s the second bank hol weekend.
So what, one wonders, were they doing?
Adrian
Talk about posh – being able to have your own personal refueller travelling with you!

There is also a memorial window in Little Easton church to the airmen who flew from Great Dunmow (the church itself being only a couple of hundred yards off the airfield). I’m sorry to say I have no pics.

Curiouser and curiouser!
In line with JFK’s “tough bird” pics, it does show where the weak point of the Lysander’s undercarriage was. The weak bit was the Lysander! If you look, I am fairly sure that the whole V-shaped beam that made up the undercarriage legs is in one piece, but the attachments to the fuselage have folded.
Having seen OW’s in pieces, it’s a piece of metal that would not disgrace a railway engine!
Adrian
Given the fact that it is largely in one lump, I’d guess maybe it was being operated from the lake (did the Finns do this, Marrti?), and the stub wing folded on approach, causing a stall, or it stalled at a faster speed than expected following the failure of the stub wing in flight.
Looks to me like a heavy landing rather than a catastrophic failure. Would be interesting to see what the official papers say!

These are two different MK2 avro ansons in our storage yard. The brighter looking one used to be outside near our lancaster for the kids big and small to play on/in until it became a safety issue. High winds which are prevelant around these parts flipped her onto her nose and she has sat like this ever since.
Nice to know I’m not as daft as I look!
Adrian
but I cannot help but see this activity as plain and simple Trespass
I don’t have my friendly solicitor to hand, but I don’t think trespass exists as a crime anymore. If that is so then silly and potentially dangerous – absolutely. Rude – likewise. But trespass?…

Post 281? *sticks out neck*
I’d say Anson, judging by the extended nose, and I’d take a wild guess it is in Canada somewhere. They seem to have lots of this stuff, lucky bleeders.

Other people have tadpoles in their ponds…

Oh yes, also forgot the Tiger Moth low over Aldworth, Berks, yesterday about 11.35.
Again, seen as a silhouette but I suspect one of the two based at Hampstead Norreys.
Adrian
Did anyone take you up on your offer, or is it still lurking in limbo?
