Youv’e got a woman who knows the difference between a t6 and an snj (actually I don’t) ,and you have to ask whether you should marry her?
About six inches, I think (WINGSPAN! Wash your mind out!).
But yes – what sort of damn fool question is that in the circumstances? If you need to ask that, TT, you need to… to… to… ask yourself why you haven’t already done so!

Sea Fury
Nasty horrible smelly thing, very cramped in the back and the pilot insists on checking you for loose change 😀
*Thinks*
Next time I see him on a roof at Old Warden with his long lens out, must push the smug git off
*shuffles off muttering and generally green with envy*
Adrian
Just came across these three grainy old pics.
Comments please on where, when, who…..why?
Bear with him, chaps, it’s an interesting tale!
(can you tell which other Forum I frequent yet?)

When I graduated flying school in Dec ’42, if the bosses could place you where you wanted to go they would. I asked for A-20 Havoc , however at the time they had a greater need for 4 engine pilots ,so I ended up in B17s
Sorry Jules, I meant to be interested in your post but I was taken aback badly by the one above!
Did you ever get to fly an A-20, or was it strictly 4-engines from then on? And what was it made you want to fly them?
Adrian
Just to add a little info on the subject of the parts from Boston Z2186. The outer wing sections, inner wing sections with U/C legs, wing center section, both engines, fuselage center section and numerous smaller parts were indeed removed from the site by the now defunct “Boston Havoc Preservation Trust”. They immediately sold one of the outer wing sections for scrap, and later broke up both engines 😡
BLOODY HELL!
I must have missed this post when it was fresh – what on earth possessed them to do that? Especially given last months Flypast, with Havoc/Boston remains being imported from Russia. I’m not far off speechless! 😮 😡

Poor old Melv! Always in the ****, only the depth varies!”

(always glad of an opportunity to indulge in toilet humour…)
What a bizarre report! The first half is balanced and careful, the second part… flamin’ ‘eck!

Adrian – await developments on the Lincoln!
Brief and enigmatic – but optimistic too. Waiting with bated breath…

Tiger Moth G-ADGT, belonging to Delta Aviation was mocked up as a BE2 by the Biggles Biplane team and this included modifying the cockpit and installing a mock up Lewis gun
I duuno, you’d think the Biggles Biplane Boys would have rushed their other Tiger Moth mocked up as a BE2… :diablo:
Adrian
I forget the full details, so I’ll post a precis and hope someone has the book.
Michael Bentine’s autobigraphy. Intelligence Officer to an Australian bomber squadron – had to account for a number of missing Elsans, and deal with a complaint from Germany via the International Red Cross that the Allies were using germ warfare by dropping said sanitary items on German civilians…

The BBC report is factually very good and undoubtedly helped by IWM reporting.
No one has been seriously hurt and that’s all that matters!
Amen to that! Lets be thankful that two people out there are still with us.
What happened will out in its own good time. It is not that long since a member of this forum was involved in a crash and was on the wrong end of a great deal of speculation, which cannot have helped anyone who knew them
Let’s just be thankful, and b****r anything else!
Adrian
Well, good luck with her chaps! Lay off the Kwak until you’ve finished!
To digress somewhat, anyone know what IS (as opposed to be should) happening to the ex-Sandtoft Lincoln?
Adrian
Goodness, what a thread – it seems to have touched a nerve!
Yes, the Airfix aircraft tug is a bit funny – probably meant to be a David Brown, though. But the site that was linked to gets a VERY interesting notice that comes up when I click it about the provenance of its images…
Hmmm, best? Difficult! I made a LOT of kits. Probably the 1/72 Lancaster.
Worst? The worst all-told was a Heller Yak-9 with a bent fuselage. Airfix – I think the biggest problem with the Tiger Moth was that the struts were so wildly out of scale to the rest of the plane – a bit of judicious pruning was needed. I don’t have any memories of any particularly bad ones, I was biased against Revell because they did amazing subjects but had sooooooo much flash on the mouldings!
Most? Easy! At one point I think I had eight of the Red Arrows Gnat on my bedroom ceiling!
Anyoen remember they did a surprising range of WW1 German planes? I remember trying to paint lozenge camo on a Halberstadt (? – two seater with an odd biplane tail), and mixing my own pale blue for a Roland C2 – and running out half way, so one half was a slightly different shade to the other! And a Heinkel He177…

Bader V Gibson
I’ve got it, Bader was actually Gibson’s secret 4th kill in his new stealth Beaufighter in their battle of who would be the biggest SOB in the RAF. :diablo:
Oh God, what have I started this time? 😮 I wouldn’t have minded if I’d been stirring the brown stuff, but I was just trying to be historically accurate… 🙁
(OK, I’m kidding – I’m not upset, but a bit bemused by the speed of digression to interesting fantasy! Sadly Andy is right about the name confusion – I wonder if the producer was a St Edward’s School old boy, and got his airmen muddled?)
Adrian
Are you sure?
I thought that the trials footage was of the Highball trials in Loch Leven (?), and Highball was spherical…
