I’m impressed the towplane (at least, I assume that’s the towplane) can get something designed to be hurled into the air by a rocket off the ground. Wonder how long the take-off run is?

Chris, yes, that tank does look a bit dubious, doesn’t it? Not good for the confidence!

Lorks-a-lordy – my bottom’s on fire! Only in America, eh? Interesting project though.

PAPAL ORDURE! 😮 As you say, only in America – love the fact that they have to put big Stars-and-Stripes on it!

I guess they would be right about the ride of your life, though I wouldn’t want to be their test pilot – apart from anything else just imagine trying to land something with an undercart a gnat’s fart long going ike the hobs of hell fro the first time!

Yes, a British frigate brought one down in the first Gulf War while protecting the American battleship, whichever one it was

Phew! Wouldn’t want to drag a thread off-topic… :diablo:

    TANGENT ALERT:

It’s also glowworm season (actually, wasn’t there a chinese missile called a glowworm?), and they are currently out and about. I’d only ever seen one on Wednesday – now I’ve seen five!

Legends, now, where were we? Oh yes, scrapping… 😀

Yep, I spotted the post, Pete. I’ve seen an occasional buzzard out that way (in fact over Christmas I saw an almost-black one in Little Sampford, confusing two crows who were trying to share a rabbit with it). Still only seen one Red Kite that way though, but I am always happy to see more! It was hard work playing cricket with nine of them circling over me! (Perhaps I should dab a little less eau-de-carrion behind the ears next time?)

Nice to be noticed from the ground!

You may well be the chap who flew over Stokenchurch that arvo in a yellow Tiger Moth, then. Keeping an eye out for the Red Kites, I hope – wouldn’t like to run into something that size…

By the way, there are lots of these around this year – hadn’t seen one for years, now they are everywhere! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scarlet_tiger_moth

The Islandic boys had to have been on some kind of drugs last year

I work with an Icelander. That’s not drugs, that’s just being Icelandic… 😮

It’s so hot today that we think that the local primary school that was built in 1874 and has no insulation has sent all the kids home

H’RRumph! Kids of today! No stamina! They never sent me home for being too hot when I was there! Mind you, I didn’t get sent home when I felt poorly once and gave everyone mumps! Typhoid Mary, eat yer heart out!

The front cover of one of the myriad sections of one of the myriad Sunday papers over the last couple of weekends had a headline along the lines of “Swimwear special – look good on the beach!” with a photo of a model in something unwearable posing in front of what looked like a derelict, partly cocooned, KC-97.

Assuming that it was at Davis Monthan, just how far away is the nearest beach?…

    Pete,
I think that your average Zepp skipper was lost 90% of the time.

I think your average Zepp skipper was trying to cope with something that was very badly affected by wind, in days when weather reporting was rudimentary on a good day, and had the turning circle of a supertanker!

Small wonder that their navigation sometimes left a lot to be desired…

Ooooh, look at the front of the Fergie! I hope they park ML407 with a bit more TLC! 😀

Very nice, Brian, thanks for letting us have a peek!
