I’ve never seen a turbo Dak – can’t help feeling it won’t sound as good! Back when oi were a lot younger ( circa 1995) there was one that trundled into Stansted late at night, I was told it was bringing mail from Schiphol, but in summer I wouldn’t shut my window until I’d heard it go by.

The casing looks like a magneto (see pic), but that handle on it has me beat – has it been re-used to make something else post-war?

Even the Buchon loves the piece – just look at the big happy grin!

Another forum I use had an outbreak of posts that were just copies of previous posts – if the text is identical, I bet it’s that happening here. 

Possibly the Vimy and it’s derivatives? I recall that one of Alcock and Brown had to climb out on the wing during their transatlantic flight to chip ice off the gauges.

Wow! That’s astonishing – you could keep the aeromodellers busy for months pixel-peeping that! At least three different sets of radar ariels for a start, and I wasn’t even looking for those!

I love the stereoypical RAF  pilot showing the US Army press corps the Typhoon (and the rather well fed chap trying to climb in it needing a bunk-up, and trying to sit with his water bottle behind him), and the “Reserved for…” notice on the Storch. Note also that the chap with the camera round his neck is toting a German Contax, which I’m prepared to bet fell off a passing Nazi.
