Well, as the creativity seems to have run out I reckon it’s time to put the bemused out of their misery.
Medley Manor farm was occupied in the late ninettenth and very early twentieth century by a man named Jason Saunders. His grandson, a young lad named Geoffrey deHavilland*, spent much time there and it was from his grandfather that he received £1000 pounds for him to set up a business making aeroplanes. The rest, as they say, is history.

*No, I can never the rubric for capitalising it either!
Love the B&W Sally B shot, no “tells” that it’s 21st century at all!
Though if I really had to pick a nit, I’d say that a plain white straight-edged border to the photo is more “period”.

Sounds as though your idea might have been a wonder, Mike.

Unless he dreamt of Manderly last night, Jeepman seems to have the right idea.
Anyone else?

Would be confusing if they were called Oboe…

…and somewhat annoyingly I cannot find my copy of the appropriate book to give chapter and verse should anyone get it!
I’m sure, though that you now appreciate why I was so pleased to get there.

I’ve posted a link to the post on a Saffron Walden Facebook page, and it seems much appreciated. It’s a long while since I’ve driven across Hadstock ‘drome, but no doubt next time I’ll think of it.

Would be nice to find a complete wing in a hedge someday. Is that a true story, or too good to be true?

Well, one turned up in Orkney the year before last…

Humming Eric Coates’ theme as I type.

Given that G-PIGY is currently in olive drab, it must have been G-MEOL I saw over North Oxford in a much lighter scheme at about 8.30pm.

In the Ludgershall, Bucks, area today – one blue-nosed P51 well into the distance (wouldn’t even have know it was a P51 without a 600mm lens!), looked like an early DH Moth of some sort judging by the G-E*** registration, a dark blue Tiger Moth and something bright yellow in the distance that might have been a Piper Cub.

And a Skyvan !
Blimey – the flying shed makes an airshow!
