I shall be flying in landing between 12 and 12-30. With me will be Les Miller aged 87 and wheel chair bound. He worked on my Proctor back in 1944 and loves anything to do with flying. Its been a few years since he was last at OW lookimg forward to it enormously.
*Looks up Proctor so he knows what to take a photo of!* Ah yes, I know…

We tend to go to the October show as it’s post-cricket season, but SWMBO wanted to see the Vulcan which was extra incentive… and let’s face it, so did I! Seen in passing a number of times (including a memorable day when PA474 and a Pietenpol Air Camper also flew by), but not at an airshow.
Adrian
With a love that will shine to you?
Sorry, I’ll get me coat.
Adrian
PM sent, Seafury Fan.
Yep, forum meet time. I believe there’s a Graham chappy on here who sells books who I’ve seen on a stand at OW as well?
Adrian
Sadly nowhere near you, but could offer a lift from Oxford area to someone?
Adrian
Likewise – Old Warden is food for my soul!
So what’s the gen on Peter H’s Storch? I’d love to see it in the air – I don’t think I’ve seen one fly since 1982. Is he selling it?
Adrian
I am.
We must just look average!
The Islander was fun – like a very noisy flying minibus.
Adrian
The last time I flew to the Isles of Scilly on an N-B Islander I was weighed and placed in a given seat as a result. Skybus operates scheduled services with Islanders from Land’s End airfield to St. Mary’s.
Intriguing, because when we took the Islander in Orkney, we weren’t. Maybe Lazy8 is right?
Adrian
Ah, thanks that would make sense – thanks. Sorry not up on all these shortcuts – ISTR??:)
I Seem To Recall
Adrian
adrian Regretably not still very grey and dreary.
Dear gods, for what little it is worth you have my sympathy!
(the Ogwen valley must look even better when you are driving away from the place)
Adrian
The Yale is a very pretty aeroplane, I especially love Brian’s fourth photo of it.
I take it that the two separate venturi are to drive two sets of instruments independently? He says, vaguely recalling that that’s what they are for, but utterly failing to remember which instruments need a vacuum…
Adrian
The thought of two flying B29s is almost as exciting as the thought of two Lancasters! Now if the Canuckistanis can do it…
Adrian
Presumably you showed them a WAAF clutching two mugs of NAAFI tea before measuring the stiffness of their upper lip? :dev2:
Old Warden is a magic oasis, you will not regret anything about going to an airshow. Well, except living in Bethesda for thirty years – please tell me it’s improved since I used to cycle there from Bangor twenty plus years ago?
Adrian
Well, that put my suggestion in its place, didn’t it? Have a great time, and good luck getting to see the Tin Triangle one last time.
Adrian
Pretty certain it’s final display is at Old Warden first weekend in October – I’d have thought that was relatively convenient for Peterborough?
