If memory serves me correctly, Tim Moore of Skysport, was looking into building a replica, but unfortunately, he couldn’t find anyone to fund the build.

    Great info Bob T,

If Tim Moore is reading this ( or reachable via you ) tell him that I have managed to produce 1400 kg/m3 dense wood composite with fairly simple method ( 2015-2017 ). Wood composite is lot stronger than aluminium…and some even as strong as steel…and 1/6th of the weight.

Seems to me that Heston Aircraft no longer exists…or they have moved and downsized.

It’s kinda like still in finnish waters…but too young for the historic society and apparently russian…Boston/Havoc bomber. 100 meters deep is not impossible ?

Maybe there could be a american-finnish team to get it up….if russians allow and then restore it and keep it in a museum here..unless russians want to restore it ?

I cannot recall who shot it down, but I figure few Bostons were used for recce and shot down by finns…or a finn ( flying Me-109 G6 ). I have to check who.

They suspect it was in a bomb load…I bet it wasn’t. Also crew maybe still inside they suspect at Yle News.( I suspect that too ..they would have hit the raft ).

Finns have no claims on it…it seems to be Russian property.

Strip away the marketing hype and you find Gripen E is a technology-refreshed Gripen C. The “new” technologies are the same ones employed on F-16 Block 60, F/A-18E/F Block 3, the latest tranches of Typhoon and Rafale and SU-35, but on Gripen’s tiny airframe with limited payload and range.

Yes Gripen E can only carry 10 AMRAAMs and 2 Sidewinders at a time…so 65 Gripens can only shoot down 780 Sukhois, but for the rest they have to use cannon. All this all on one flight. Maybe they have a chance to rearm for an other round in case of another border clash ? F-15 could carry 4 missiles more.

    Finland should get Su35s.

If I was Finland’s drunkmeister or whatever they call their commie chief, I would get 24 upgraded Gripen Cs on lease & 24 Su35s.

    Nic

Our commie chief was the right arm of USSRs Josef Stalin back in the 30ies…he was Otto Ville Kuusinen…and he founded a shadow government there to run Finland affairs. 1939 they joyfully marched to Finland to annex it to their happy nation. Unfortunately ( for commies ) the real chief we had back then was not a commie he was marschal Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim….an ex-czar Chevalier guard officer. He enjoyed hunting with Hermann Göring and occasionally met ( 1941 onwards ) also the well know corporal…..Adenoid Hynkel.

Our current president is Sauli Niinistö…friend of Trump and Putin. He is also not a drunkmeister. CGE Mannerheim did sometimes drink during the dinner…an official toast and aperitif.

I wonder if the Sabre engine in Skylon is able to handle bird strikes ?

High speed can only be applied at very high…scramjets estimate even M14 speeds.

Maybe this needs to be reconsidered along with Trumps Space Force proposition.

But if Skylon works like expected…it can make rolls around the Tempest powered with conventional engines ? Wouldn’t this extra operating altitude and speed kinda make the fighter invincible ( using the Sabre engine ) ?
