Finland and the Finns have many admirers in this country for the way you dealt with the Russians during the Winter War.
Yes John flying Fokkers, Moranes and Gladiators….Barbarossa started for us when Russians bombed Finland for a week. Had they not done that there would not have been a reason to wage war against them. Triggerhappy soviets started bombing cities and railroad hubs.
I think there is a great consensus here that BoB was the finest moment for your airforce too. Last finnish squadron leader ( Blenheim skipper ) died last winter, he was my uncle.
I can’t remember whether these figures are accurate but, something akin to 10% of pilots in the Battle accounted for 80% of German aircraft destroyed.
I bet the “target rich” environment made some of the success for germans too. Also they had well trained pilots from Spanish Civil War.
Finns had 91 + 78 scoring aces at the top. Summer of 1944 was so hectic that some people scored 25 in few months.
One finn scored 5 IL-2s in few minutes, but was all alone ( no witness ) and confirmation did not come until 1991 as one sergeant of the infantry was accidently interviewed having seen the happening.
Japanese and Russians had high scoring aces too.
Good planes help a lot I bet.
After all I bet bombers and ground attack planes scored most ….souls that is. Which is awfull…and cruel.
C-46 Curtiss Commando is an awesome looking transport.
I just saw the “ISLAND in the SKY” where John Wayne was starring.
They have to make a forced landing into the wilderness.
I have to try this C-46 in FSX.
Is that a modified post production type ?
How about the copy of the original LILIENTHAL glider.

in my opinion the reason why F-4K is slower than the J have more to do with the engine, pressure recovery at intake rather than total drag , the K/M version have turbo fan engine , thus at high speed , high altitude it will lose alot more thrust than a turbo jet engine .
Similarly , the Mig-25 only have 10 kN of thrust more than F-35 but it is significantly draggier and heavier than f-35 , despite all that it is still 2 time faster than f-35

Mig-25 can only fly very short time at M3…and it is not draggier. It is very streamlined without external loads.
Goals are different. Mig-25 shines like a christmas tree in the radar.
It does fly 2 x speed in MS FSX than a F-35 yes.
Here is the F.1 from FSX.
That would be cool.
K5054 replica also.
That is correct sir.
Jet assisted version empty could be cool.

Back in the day it was also called the SKYTRUCK; http://www.c82packet.com/index.html
There are No flaps fitted to the Vulcan, that control surface does not exist on that aircraft type. Seems your simulator is a bit misleading.
Ok…so it does fly like Concorde and Draken ..as I suspected too.
That’s not a Flying Boxcar. It’s a C-82 (Packet). A flying Boxcar is a C-119. Although the two are related 🙂

Flaps? No. Elevons, yes.
Okay so the elevons go up as the flaps go down ?
That is how I figure it has to be…thanks.
How about the ledendary FLYING BOXCAR ?
I have flown the Vulcan in FSX. One thing I con’t understand; it has flaps, but shoudn’t the nose dive when you use them ?
Really cool sounding aircraft in the simulator too.
Looks pretty cool…not bulged like the block-60.
Cool…neat wingtips/winglets.
Watch the whole of the video – the pilot asks for emergency crews to attend prior to turning finals. So, he knew he had a problem.
Likelihood would seem to be tyre failure on take off, so he made the unusual landing to keep the weight on the opposite wheel as long as possible. Braking would be odd to say the least in this position, hence the tip forward onto the prop before going on to three points. New wheel and tyre, new prop blades, engine runout check, and fresh underpants.
Incidentally, he lost the tyre on landing – not the wheel, so it was already deflated before the landing.
Good job all round I reckon.
I agree 100 % !
